Regensdorf is a municipality in the district of Dielsdorf District of the canton of Zürich, Switzerland. It is the biggest city in the region Furttal (ZH). Katzensee is a lake that also includes the bath/lido Strandbad Katzensee on the border with the Affoltern quarter of the city of Zürich. History Regensdorf is first mentioned in 870 as ''Reganesdorf''. In 931 it was mentioned as ''Wat'' and in 1040 as ''Adalinchova'', when probably the Alt-Regensberg Castle was built by the House of Regensberg. Geography Regensdorf has an area of . Of this area, 43.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 23.6% is forested. Alt-Regensberg Castle
Alt-Regensberg Castle ( Swiss German: Ruine Alt-Regensberg also referred to Altburg) is a hill castle which was built about the mid-11th century AD by the House of Regensberg in the Swiss municipality of Regensdorf in the Canton of Zürich. Geography The ancestral seat of the House of Regensberg was erected on a roughly high moraine hill and comprises a roughly hexagonal area of about from west to east and from south to north. The remains of the castle are located in ''Altburg'', a locality of the municipality of Regensdorf in the Canton of Zürich. Furttal is the name of a valley region in Switzerland between Lägern and Altberg in the Dielsdorf district of the canton of Zurich. The area's name stems from the German word for ford, or ''furt'', and is named after the crossing over the Limmat in the community of Würenlos on the west side of the region. The area is bordered in the east near the community of Regensdorf by the Katzensee lakes. The population of the region is expanding rapidly due to its proximity to city of Zurich and its beautiful landscape. Zürich S-Bahn

The S-Bahn is the name of hybrid urban-suburban rail systems serving a metropolitan region in German-speaking countries. The S6 is a regional railway service of the S-Bahn Zürich on the Zürcher Verkehrsverbund (ZVV), Zürich transportation network, and is one of the network's services connecting the cantons of Zürich and Aargau.
