Red Hot Tires (1925 Film)
''Red Hot Tires'' is a 1925 American silent comedy film produced and released by Warner Brothers. The film was based on a story written by Darryl Zanuck, under the pseudonym Gregory Rogers, and directed by Erle C. Kenton. The film stars Monte Blue and Patsy Ruth Miller. Ten years later, Warner Bros. released 1935 film with the same title, which unrelated to the 1925 version. Plot As described in a review in a film magazine, Al Jones (Blue) sees a Elizabeth Lowden (Miller) and becomes so infatuated with her that he runs his car into a steam roller. As he expresses it afterwards, every time he sees her something happens. Her father (Esmelton) is chief of police and, to cure her of speeding, he puts her in jail. Jones demands the same treatment and is accommodated, but gets out first and strives to get back in only to find that the young woman has been released. He then has a hard time getting out. Fred Esmelton
Fred Esmelton (22 June 1872 – 23 October 1933) was an Australian-born American film actor, as well as a stage actor and director. He appeared in 30 films, usually in supporting roles, between the years 1916 and 1931. He was born in Melbourne, Victoria and died in Los Angeles, California. Career According to census documents, he was born in Victoria, Australia, the son of Robert Chapple Bryant. On his 1922 American naturalization documents, Esmelton's birth name was listed as Frederick Batty Green Bryant, and when he established residence in the United States, he sometimes used the name Frederick Esmelton Bryant. Sometime in the mid-1920s, he legally changed his name to Frederick Bryant Esmelton. While best known as a silent film actor, he also performed in numerous stage plays, especially on the west coast. William Lowery
William Lowery (July 22, 1885 – November 15, 1941) was an American silent film actor. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and was signed by the Thanhouser Company in 1914. Lowery's parents were actors, and he first acted at age 9. He enlisted in the Army in 1901 and fought during the Boxer uprising in China, achieving a commission as second lieutenant. He performed with a stock theater company in Los Angeles in 1906 before he began working in films. His first film was ''The Ten of Spades'' (1914) also starring William Garwood. He starred in about 60 films between 1914 and his retirement from film in 1927. He died on November 15, 1941, in Los Angeles.
