RandstadRail
RandstadRail () is a light rail network in the Rotterdam–The Hague metropolitan area in the west of the Netherlands that is jointly operated by HTM Personenvervoer (HTM) and Rotterdamse Elektrische Tram (RET). It connects the cities of Rotterdam, The Hague and Zoetermeer, primarily using former train and existing tram tracks. Named after the Randstad conurbation, the light rail network came into operation in 2006, after regular train services on the Hofpleinlijn and Zoetermeer Stadslijn had been discontinued. The system consists of four routes and serves 73 stations, with a total length of approximately . In 2018, it had a daily ridership of around 125,000 passengers. HTM Personenvervoer
HTM Personenvervoer NV (HTM, from the former name Haagsche Tramweg Maatschappij) is a public transport company in the Netherlands operating trams, lightrail and buses in The Hague, Rijswijk, Leidschendam, Voorburg, Delft, Zoetermeer, Wateringen, Pijnacker and Nootdorp, the so-called Conurbation Haaglanden. The lightrail connection (called RandstadRail, RR) to Zoetermeer is operated in cooperation with RET, the Rotterdam-public transport company, which operates the connection between The Hague Central Station and Slinge in the south of Rotterdam, thus giving a fast and easy connection between the two city-centres. Regional transports are serviced by Connexxion, Arriva and RET. In September 2012 it was announced that Dutch Railways (NS) wanted to acquire a 49% stake in HTM. Leidschenveen is the RandstadRail station in the centre of Leidschenveen in the neighbourhood Leidschenveen-Ypenburg in The Hague, Netherlands. The station features 2 platforms on a viaduct. Zoetermeer Stadslijn
Zoetermeer Stadslijn is a light-rail line converted from a former commuter rail line in the Netherlands, between The Hague and Zoetermeer. History Originally, the line was managed by the Dutch Railways (NS). Since June 2006, it has served as a light-rail line, using trams. The light-rail connection, combined with The Hague-Rotterdam line, is called the RandstadRail. After the Oosterheem neighbourhood was built in Zoetermeer, an extra track was added. It does not take the round line, unlike the other routes, but splits between Seghweart and Leidsewallen stations. Lines Since the extra Oosterheem line was added, two lines reach the Zoetermeer Stadslijn and are called line 3 and line 4. Rodenrijs is a metro station, as a part of the Rotterdam metro and the regional light rail system RandstadRail, located in Rodenrijs, the Netherlands. History The railway station opened here on 1 October 1908 as part of the Hofpleinlijn. Melanchthonweg is a metro station, as a part of the Rotterdam metro and the regional light rail system RandstadRail, located in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
