Race (classification Of Human Beings)
A race is a categorization of humans based on shared physical or social qualities into groups generally viewed as distinct within a given society. The term came into common usage during the 1500s, when it was used to refer to groups of various kinds, including those characterized by close kinship relations. By the 17th century, the term began to refer to physical ( phenotypical) traits, and then later to national affiliations. Modern science regards race as a social construct, an identity which is assigned based on rules made by society. While partly based on physical similarities within groups, race does not have an inherent physical or biological meaning. The concept of race is foundational to racism, the belief that humans can be divided based on the superiority of one race over another. Social conceptions and groupings of races have varied over time, often involving folk taxonomies that define essential types of individuals based on perceived traits. Today, scientists co ...

Malinchista
Malinchism ( es, malinchismo) or malinchist () (sometimes simply Malinche) is a form of attraction that a person from one culture develops for another culture, a particular case of cultural cringe. The term is used in Latin America, and especially in Mexico, to refer to the development of an admiration for the culture, ideas, behaviors, and lifestyle of the United States over those that are homegrown. "Malinchism" may be taken as a pejorative, as an expression of disdain for those who are attracted by foreign values, thinking them superior, of better quality and worthy of imitation. It is derived from the name of Hernán Cortés's Nahua advisor La Malinche, referring to a deep-rooted Mexican inferiority complex. La Malinche is used as a symbol for those who assisted Spaniards in destroying indigenous Americans' way of life and culture. In Mexico and in other countries the term "malinchism" or "malinchist" applies to all those who feel an attraction to foreign cultures and disre ...

Wigger
''Wigger'', or ''wigga'', is a term for a white person of European ethnic origin, who emulates the perceived mannerisms, language, and fashions associated with African-American culture, particularly hip hop. The term is a portmanteau of ''white'' and ''nigger''. One dictionary defines the term as a slang, derogatory reference to "...a white youth who adopts black youth culture by adopting its speech, wearing its clothes, and listening to its music." Another dictionary defines the term as "offensive slang" referring to a "...white person, usually a teenager or young adult, who adopts the fashions, the tastes, and often the mannerisms considered typical of urban black youth." The term is generally considered derogatory, reflecting stereotypes of African-American, black British, and white culture (when used as a synonym of white trash). The ''wannabe'' connotation may be used pejoratively. It is also sometimes used in a racist manner by some non-black persons, not only belittli ...

White Nigger
White nigger is an ethnic slur with somewhat different meanings in different parts of the English-speaking world. North America Dating from the nineteenth century, "white nigger" was a derogatory and often considered offensive term for a black person who deferred to white people or a white person who did menial work. The term "white niggers" was uttered twice by Democratic Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia in an interview on national television in 2001. Italian immigrants During all the 19th century until the early part of the 20th, Italian immigrants in the United States were often referred to as "white niggers". West Brit
West Brit, an abbreviation of West Briton, is a derogatory term for an Irish person who is perceived as Anglophilic in matters of culture or politics. West Britain is a description of Ireland emphasising it as under British influence. History "West Britain" was used with reference to the Acts of Union 1800 which united the Kingdom of Great Britain and the Kingdom of Ireland into the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Similarly "North Britain" for Scotland used after the 1603 Union of the Crowns and the Acts of Union 1707 connected it to the Kingdom of England ("South Britain"). In 1800 Thomas Grady, a Limerick unionist, published a collection of light verse called ''The West Briton'', while an anti-union cartoon depicted an official offering bribes and proclaiming "God save the King & his Majesty's subjects of west Britain that is to be!" In 1801 the Latin description of George III on the Great Seal of the Realm was changed from "King of Great Britain, France and I ...

Uncle Tom Syndrome
Uncle Tom syndrome is a theory in multicultural psychology referring to a coping skill in which individuals use passivity and submissiveness when confronted with a threat, leading to subservient behaviour and appeasement, while concealing their true thoughts and feelings. Overview The term "Uncle Tom" comes from the title character of Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel ''Uncle Tom's Cabin'', where an enslaved African American, Tom, is beaten to death for refusing to betray the whereabouts of two other enslaved people. In Stowe's novel Uncle Tom is a heroic character, loyal to the slaves in hiding, but the original producers of the stage version of the story "grossly distorted" the character into a man who would sell out his own race to curry favor with white people. This version of Uncle Tom was designed to be more favourable to audiences of the late 1850's and it is he, not the original, that the slur refers to. In the American racial context, "Uncle Tom" is a pejorative term for ...

Shoneenism
Shoneenism is a pejorative term, used in Ireland from at least the 18th century, to describe Irish people who are viewed as adhering to Anglophile snobbery. Some late 19th and early 20th century Irish nationalist writers, like D. P. Moran (1869–1936), used the term ''shoneen'' (alongside the term West Brit) to characterize those who displayed snobbery or admiration for the people and culture of the English upper class. A ''shoneen'' also reputedly shows corresponding disdain for native Irish customs and traditions, including the Irish language, Gaelic games, and traditional Irish music. History and use Since the 1800s, the words ''shoneen'' and ''shoneenism'' have been used by Irish nationalists as terms of derision and are always uncomplimentary towards the ''shoneen'' as the Irish language diminutive ending ''een'' (''ín'') when used in this manner has a loading of contempt. One suggested etymology of ''shoneen'' is ''seoinín'', meaning "Little John" in Irish, referring ...

Self-hating Jew
Self-hating Jew or self-loathing Jew, transliterated in Hebrew as auto-antisemitism, is a term which is used to describe Jews whose views are perceived as antisemitic. The concept gained widespread currency after Theodor Lessing's 1930 book (''Jewish Self-hatred''), which sought to explain a perceived inclination among Jewish intellectuals, toward inciting antisemitism, by stating their views about Judaism. The term is said to have become "something of a key term of opprobrium in and beyond Cold War-era debates about Zionism". Descriptions of the concept The expression "self-hating Jew" is often used rhetorically, meaning towards Jews who differ in their lifestyles, interests or political positions from the speaker. * Usage of self-hatred can also designate dislike, or hatred, of a group to which one belongs. Sarong Party Girl
A sarong party girl (also known as an SPG) is a woman in Singapore and (to a lesser extent) Peninsular Malaysia of Chinese ethnicity who exclusively dates or socializes with men of European origin. Etymology The term "Sarong party girl" has its fairly innocuous roots in the late 1940s to early 1950s when Singapore was still ruled by the British Empire. As a general practice, the British forces personnel socialised very much among themselves, according to their military ranks and status (i.e. officers as opposed to enlisted men). However, there were some instances when specific local Singaporean "guests" were invited to social functions hosted by the British. The term "Sarong party" came into use to describe social functions which included local invited "ladies" who wore the sarong, a native word for a wrap-around skirt popular among local Singaporean men and women of the time. Common stereotypes Historically, the stereotypical "Sarong party girl" had a false foreign accent, was ...

Rassenschande
''Rassenschande'' (, "racial shame") or ''Blutschande'' ( "blood disgrace") was an anti-miscegenation concept in Nazi German racial policy, pertaining to sexual relations between Aryans and non-Aryans. It was put into practice by policies like the Aryan certificate requirement, Leila J. Rupp, ''Mobilizing Women for War'', p 125, and later by anti-miscegenation laws such as the Nuremberg Laws, adopted unanimously by the Reichstag on 15 September 1935. Initially, these laws referred predominantly to relations between ethnic Germans (classified, together with most other western Europeans, as "Aryans") and non-Aryans, regardless of citizenship. In the early stages the culprits were targeted informally; later, they were punished systematically and legally. In the course of the ensuing war years, sexual relations between ''Reichsdeutschen'' (ethnic Germans, regardless of place of birth) and millions of foreign ''Ostarbeitern'' ("workers from the East") forcibly brought to German ...
