Rudolph De Cordova
Rudolph de Cordova (10 June 1859 – 11 January 1941) was a Jamaican-born British writer, screenwriter and actor. Cordova was born in Kingston, the son of Altamont de Cordova, a prominent merchant, and Katherine Lewis. He went to London to study medicine in the 1880s, but soon abandoned his studies in order to become an actor.Hill, p. 139. His brother was the actor and film director Leander de Cordova. He was also the grandnephew of Jacob de Cordova, and great grandnephew of Raphael de Cordova, a coffee brewer and president of the first synagogue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was also the cousin of Julian de Cordova, former president of Union Glass Company, and founder of the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum. He was married to the writer Alicia Ramsey and collaborated with her on several plays. Kingston is the Capital (political), capital and largest city of Jamaica, located on the southeastern coast of the island. It faces a natural harbour protected by the Palisadoes, a long spit (landform), sand spit which connects the town of Port Royal and Norman Manley International Airport to the rest of the island. Kingston is the largest English-speaking city south of the United States in the Western Hemisphere. The local government bodies of the parishes of Kingston Parish, Kingston and Saint Andrew Parish, Jamaica, Saint Andrew were amalgamated by the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation Act of 1923, to form the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation (KSAC). ''The Secret Kingdom'' is a 1925 British silent film, silent fantasy film, fantasy, and science fiction film. It was directed by Sinclair Hill, and starred Matheson Lang, Stella Arbenina and Eric Bransby Williams. It is an adaptation of the novel ''The Hidden Fire'' by Bertram Atkey. The screenplay concerns a wealthy man who acquires a mind-reading machine, but is soon horrified to discover what people are really thinking. It was shot at Cricklewood Studios in London, it was re-issued in 1929 under the alternative title of ''Beyond the Veil''.
