Roman Catholic Archdiocese Of Vaduz
The Archdiocese of Vaduz (), which was erected in 1997, is a Latin Church diocese of the Catholic Church which encompasses the entire territory of the Principality of Liechtenstein. History The Archdiocese of Vaduz was erected by Pope John Paul II in the apostolic constitution ''Ad satius consulendum'' on 2 December 1997. Its territory, taken from Swiss Diocese of Chur, consists of the entire Principality of Liechtenstein. Before then it had been the Liechtenstein Deanery within the Diocese of Chur. The Archdiocese of Vaduz does not belong to any conference of bishops and reports directly to the Holy See. Wolfgang Haas, who had been a controversial bishop of Chur since 1988, was appointed to head the new archdiocese. Vaduz Cathedral, or Cathedral of St. Florin ( German: ''St. Florinskirche in Vaduz'' or ''Kathedrale St. Florin''), is a neo-Gothic church in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and the centre of the Archdiocese of Vaduz. Originally a parish church, was elevated to the status of cathedral in 1997, and has held that designation since. History It was built in 1874 by Friedrich von Schmidt on the site of earlier medieval foundations. Its patron saint is Florinus of Remüs (Florin), a 9th-century saint of the Vinschgau Valley. The religion in Liechtenstein is predominantly Catholic, with a minority of Protestants, non-adherents, and adherents of other religions; it also has a small Muslim population, composed mainly of immigrants from countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey. Lucius Of Chur
Lucius of Chur (German: or ) is a legendary Swiss saint, priest and bishop. He was born in Britain or, more likely, in Prättigau, Switzerland, and died in the 5th or 6th century presumably in Chur, Prättigau. According to reliable sources, Lucius worked as missionary in Raetia around the St. Luzisteig Pass near Landquart; the pass is named after him. It is unlikely that he was appointed the first bishop of Chur and died as martyr. His sister is Saint . He is sometimes identified with Lucius of Britain. Paul Richard Gallagher, (born 23 January 1954) is a British prelate of the Catholic Church who has been Secretary for Relations with States within the Holy See's Secretariat of State since November 2014.
