Robin Hill (biochemist)
Robert Hill FRS (2 April 1899 – 15 March 1991), known as Robin Hill, was a British plant biochemist who, in 1939, demonstrated the 'Hill reaction' of photosynthesis, proving that oxygen is evolved during the light requiring steps of photosynthesis. He also made significant contributions to the development of the Z-scheme of oxygenic photosynthesis. Education and early life Hill was born in New Milverton, a suburb of Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. He was educated at Bedales School, where he became interested in biology and astronomy (he published a paper on sunspots in 1917), and Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he read Natural Sciences. During the First World War he served in the Anti-gas Department of the Royal Engineers. Career In 1922, he joined the Department of Biochemistry at Cambridge, where he was directed to research hemoglobin. Robin Hill, 8th Marquess Of Downshire
Arthur Robin Ian Hill, 8th Marquess of Downshire (10 May 1929 – 18 December 2003), known as Robin Hill, was an Irish peer and the Hereditary Constable of Hillsborough Fort. He was the only son of Lord Arthur Francis Hill and Ishabel Wilhelmina Sheila MacDougall. He successfully re-established his Ulster-based landowning family in North Yorkshire following the Irish Land Acts and the creation of Bracknell New Town, which had largely deprived him of his original estates. Life Hill was born in Brompton Square, London. As a youth he was taught the oboe by Leon Goossens. At Eton College he captained the school shooting VIII and led it to win the Asburton Shield at Bisley. On leaving school, he did his National Service with the Royal Scots Greys in Germany from 1948 to 1950. Robin Hill (born 1932) is an Australian artist and writer, living in the United States and specialising in natural history subjects, especially birds. Hill was born in Brisbane, the capital of the Australian state of Queensland. He was trained at the Wimbledon School of Art and, after moving back to Australia in 1949, at the National Gallery of Victoria Art School and the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. In the early to mid 1960s he worked for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation as the host on ''Bush Quest with Robin Hill''. Helping to pioneer this television documentary on Australian wildlife with the producer Ken Taylor, Hill used his serious knowledge and love of birds to observe the local bird and wild life across various bush and wetlands of Victoria. Robin Hill Country Park
Robin Hill Country Park is an theme park located in Downend; outside Newport, Isle of Wight. Robin Hill is owned by the Dabell family, who also own Blackgang Chine; another Isle of Wight amusement Park located in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. The park has four main rides: A quarter-mile downhill toboggan, 4D Motion Cinema, 'Cows Express' Junior train ride and the 'Colossus' a swinging galleon boat ride. On the site of Robin Hill is the buried farmstead of Combley Roman Villa. This is explained in the 'Romans at Robin Hill' exhibition when at the park. Robin Hill is also noted for wildlife, particularly the red squirrels. The park was the location for the annual Bestival music festival held every September, but has now moved to Lulworth Castle in Dorset. Robin Hill Cemetery is a historic cemetery on Donald Lynch Boulevard in Marlborough, Massachusetts, overlooking the Assabet River. It is at about the community's second smallest burial ground, and it had (as of 2004) 24 markers denoting 27 burials. It is located on the south side of Donald Lynch Boulevard in a commercial office park, with the interchange between Interstates 495 and 290 to its south and east. Part of the property is taken up by Robin Hill a rise of about that is mostly covered with pine trees, and has relatively few burials. The rest of the property is relatively flat, and has been divided into family plots measuring about . It has a receiving tomb that probably dates to the mid-19th century.
