Robert Menli Lyon
Robert Menli Lyon (born Robert Milne; 1789–1874) was a pioneering Western Australian settler who became one of the earliest outspoken advocates for Indigenous Australian rights and welfare in the colony. He published the first information on the Aboriginal language of the Perth area. Early life Lyon was born in Inverness, Scotland. He is thought to have had a career in the army in his youth and probably attained the military rank of captain. In 1829, at the age of about forty, Milne immigrated to what was then the British colony of Western Australia. During his time in Western Australia, Milne made no claim to military rank, initially preferring to be known simply as Robert Milne. Shortly after his arrival, he adopted the name Robert Menli Lyon, ''Menli'' being an anagram of ''Milne''. Robert Alexander Milne (born 13 June 1960) is a former English cricketer. Milne was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Hackney, London. Milne made his Minor Counties Championship debut for Cambridgeshire against Bedfordshire in 1985. From 1985 to 1996, he represented the county in 31 Minor Counties Championship matches, the last of which against Bedfordshire. He made his debut in the MCCA Knockout Trophy in 1987 against Cheshire. From 1987 to 1991, he represented the county in 3 Trophy matches, the last of which came against Norfolk. It was for Cambridgeshire that he made 2 List A appearances. These came against Derbyshire in the 1987 NatWest Trophy and Kent in the 1991 NatWest Trophy. In his 2 List A matches, he scored 2 runs at a batting average of 1.00, with a high score of 2, while in the field he took a single catch. This is a list in alphabetical order of cricketers who have played for Lancashire County Cricket Club in top-class matches since the club was founded in 1864. Lancashire have held first-class status since their inaugural match in 1865. The details are the player's usual name followed by the seasons in which he was active as a Lancashire player. The list excludes Second XI and other players who did not play for the club's first team; and players whose first team appearances were in minor matches only. Many players represented other top-class teams besides Lancashire and some played for the old Manchester Cricket Club before 1864. Eight of those represented a Manchester team styled Lancashire in 1864 before going on to play in first-class matches for the new club from 1865. Robert Duncan Milne (7 June 1844–15 December 1899) was a late-19th century San Francisco science fiction writer whose work was published primarily in newspapers of the time, and the magazine ''The Argonaut''. He was born in Cupar, Scotland, and moved to San Francisco in the 1860s, where he remained until his death. Milne is considered one of the earliest full-time science fiction writers in America. His stories explored speculative concepts such as climate catastrophe, cryogenics, and drone warfare, making making him a successor to writers like Jules Verne and a precursor to those such as H.G.
