Rinaldo Degli Albizzi
Rinaldo degli Albizzi (1370–1442) was an Italian nobleman, a member of the Florentine family of the Albizzi. Along with Palla Strozzi, he was the primary opponent of Cosimo de' Medici's rise in Florence. Albizzi entered public service for the Republic of Florence in 1399 as a diplomat under the oligarchic rule of his father, Maso degli Albizzi. He served on several dozen official diplomatic missions, first locally in towns such as Arezzo and Cortona, later on more distant assignments to Pisa, Lucca, Naples, and Rome. At the height of his diplomatic career, he was the principal ambassador for Florence, and was particularly active in ecclesiastic affairs. On his father's death in 1417, Albizzi became the unofficial second-in-command of the oligarchy under his father's longtime friend, Niccolo da Uzzano. Gonfaloniere of Justice () was a post in the government of medieval and early Renaissance Florence. Like Florence's Priori, it was introduced in 1293 when Giano Della Bella's Ordinances of Justice came into force. He was one of the nine citizens selected by drawing lots every two months, who formed the government, or Signoria. As he was the temporary standard-bearer of the Republic of Florence and custodian of the city's banner, which was displayed from the yardarm of a portable cross. Along with the voting rights of the other Priori, he was also in charge of the internal security forces and the maintenance of public order. Roberto Gastone Zeffiro Rossellini (8 May 1906 – 3 June 1977) was an Italian film director, producer, and screenwriter. Ormanno di Rinaldo degli Albizzi (7 March 1398, Florence - 1457 or after) was an Italian (Republic of Florence) ambassador and military, firstborn of Rinaldo degli Albizzi and his wife Alessandra de' Ricco. Biography He was sent in 1433 as ambassador to Venice. In 1434 he was at the side of his father Rinaldo to oppose at the return of the exiled Cosimo de' Medici, but they failed and Cosimo came back to Florence, whom he became the unofficial Lord. After the restoration of the Medici rulership, Rinaldo degli Albizi was exiled. Two years later Ormanno was declared a rebel and exiled too, and he fled to Trapani. Later in the same year he went to Milan at the court of Filippo Maria Visconti to incite him against the Florence and served under the Visconti insignia until the battle of Anghiari, lost by Milan.
