Rico Sempurna Pasaribu
Rico Sempurna Pasaribu ( – 27 June 2024) was an Indonesian journalist who worked for the Medan-based Tribrata TV covering regional news in North Sumatra. In June 2024, he died alongside his wife, daughter and grandson in a house fire, shortly after reporting on allegations of gambling, prostitution and drug running by a senior figure in the Indonesian Army. Career Pasaribu worked for Tribrata TV, an online news website based in Medan that often reported on local police activities in North Sumatra. On 22 June 2024, Tribrata TV published an article by Pasaribu which alleged that an illegal gambling den located close to the barracks of the 125th Infantry Battalion in the Pedangmas district of Kabanjahe was operated by a corporal within the Indonesian Army. Following the article's publication, the Journalist Safety Committee reported that the soldier in question had threatened Pasaribu and requested Tribrata TV's chief editor, Edrin Adriansyah, to remove the article. The ''Jakarta Globe'' is a daily online English-language newspaper in Indonesia, launched in November 2008. The paper initially came out as a print newspaper with an average of 48 pages a day, and published Monday to Saturday. Audrey Azoulay (; born 4 August 1972) is a French Jew of Moroccan descent, French Civil Service, civil servant and politician who has served as the 11th Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) since 2017, becoming the second female leader of the organization. Sander Thoenes (November 7, 1968 – September 21, 1999) was a Dutch journalist who was killed, near Dili in East Timor, by soldiers of the Indonesian army. He was shot when their paths crossed on a road as the Indonesians withdrew from the territory. Early life Thoenes was born in Enschede, the Netherlands, the youngest of three brothers. He was educated at Gymnasium St. Jacobus college in Enschede (1981–1987) and studied English literature and modern Russian history at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts, United States (1987–1992). Murder Of Udin
Fuad Muhammad Syafruddin (18 February 1963 – 16 August 1996), best known by his pen name Udin, was an Indonesian journalist who was murdered in 1996. A reporter at the Yogyakarta daily newspaper '' Bernas'', he published a series of articles on corruption in the Bantul Regency in the months before his death. On 13 August, he was attacked at his house by two unidentified assailants using a metal rod and taken to the hospital. He died three days later without regaining consciousness.
