The Rhineland (german: Rheinland; french: Rhénanie; nl, Rijnland; ksh, Rhingland; Latinised name: ''Rhenania'') is a loosely defined area of Western Germany along the Rhine, chiefly its middle section. Term Historically, the Rhinelands refers (physically speaking) to a loosely defined region embracing the land on the banks of the Rhine in Central Europe, which were settled by Ripuarian and Salian Franks and became part of Frankish Austrasia. In the High Middle Ages, numerous Imperial States along the river emerged from the former stem duchy of Lotharingia, without developing any common political or cultural identity. Rural Municipality Of Rhineland
The Rural Municipality of Rhineland is a former rural municipality (RM) in the Canadian province of Manitoba. Since 1876, the area made up part of the Mennonite West Reserve. The R.M. of Rhineland was originally incorporated as a rural municipality on February 14, 1880 and later absorbed the neighbouring RM of Douglas in January 1891. It ceased on January 1, 2015 as a result of its provincially mandated amalgamation with the towns of Gretna and Plum Coulee to form the Municipality of Rhineland. The RM was located in the southern part of the province, along its border with the state of North Dakota in the United States. It had a population of 4,125 persons in the 2006 census, a slight decrease from the 4,183 reported in the 2001 Census. There is a national historic site in the former RM's territory at Neubergthal, which was officially designated in 1998 as ''Neubergthal Street Village''. Rhineland is a former provincial electoral division in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It was created by redistribution in 1892, and eliminated in 1914, when it merged into the new riding of Morden and Rhineland. It was re-established in 1949, and eliminated again in 1989. The Missouri Rhineland is a geographical area of Missouri that extends from west of St. Louis to slightly east of Jefferson City, located mostly in the Missouri River Valley on both sides of the river. Dutzow, the first permanent German settlement in Missouri, was founded in 1832 by Baron von Bock. The area is named after the Rhineland region in central Europe, a wine-growing area around the Rhine river, by German-Americans who noticed similarities in the two regions' soil and topography. The soils of the Missouri River Valley and surrounding areas are mainly rocky residual soils left after the carbonate (mainly limestone) bedrock weathered away to impurities of clayey soil and chert fragments. Rhineland, Missouri
Rhineland is a village in Montgomery County, Missouri, United States. The population was 139 at the 2020 census. Its name came from German immigrants from the river Rhine area. Located on the north bank of the Missouri River, Rhineland was devastated in the Great Flood of 1993. It was one of the first towns to accept federal funds to move out of a flood plain. All houses in the town were moved about 1½ miles uphill. History Rhineland was originally built up chiefly by Germans, who named the settlement after the river Rhine. Rhineland is an unincorporated community in Knox County, Texas, United States. According to the ''Handbook of Texas'', the community had an estimated population of 100 in 2000. The Ford Rheinland is an automobile that was built by Ford Germany that was in production from 1933 to 1936. The name comes from the German region of the Rhineland. In total 5575 of them were made.
