''Return to Pride Rock: Songs Inspired by Disney's The Lion King II: Simba's Pride'' is a 1998 studio album released as an accompaniment to the animated film '' The Lion King II: Simba's Pride''. Although not promoted as an official soundtrack, it contains all the songs from the film, as well as additional songs by Lebo M. Other featured artists included Liz Callaway, Nick Glennie-Smith, Robert Guillaume, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and Suzanne Pleshette. On August 31, 2004, Disney released an "enhanced soundtrack" to coincide with the release of the film's 2-disc Special Edition DVD. George David Weiss
George David Weiss (April 9, 1921 – August 23, 2010) was an American songwriter and arranger, who was a president of the Songwriters Guild of America. He is an inductee in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Biography Weiss was born in a Jewish family and originally planned a career as a lawyer or accountant; however, out of a love for music, he was led to attend the Juilliard School of Music, developing his skills in writing and arranging. Luigi Creatore
Luigi Federico Creatore (December 21, 1921 – December 13, 2015) was an American songwriter and record producer. Creatore was born in New York City in 1921, the son of noted Italian-born bandleader and composer Giuseppe Creatore. After serving with the United States military during World War II, in the 1950s he became a writer then partnered with his cousin, Hugo Peretti to form the songwriting team of Hugo & Luigi which also produced other records. Hugo E. Peretti (December 6, 1916 – May 1, 1986) was an American songwriter, trumpeter, and record producer. Born in New York City to an Italian American family, Peretti began his music career as a teenager, playing the trumpet in the Borscht Belt in upstate New York. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a song originally written and first recorded in 1939 by Solomon Linda under the title "Mbube", through South African Gallo Record Company. In 1961, a version adapted into English by the doo-wop group the Tokens became a number-one hit in the United States. It earned millions in royalties from cover versions and film licensing. Lyrics of Linda's original version were written in Zulu, while those from the Tokens' adaptation were written by George David Weiss.
