Restraint (2017 Film)
''Restraint'' is a 2017 American psychological horror film written and directed by Adam Cushman. The film stars Dana Ashbrook and Caitlyn Folley as a newly married couple whose lives unravel after Angela ( Caitlyn Folley) begins reacting violently to her new suburban environment. Plot After Angela moves to suburbia with her controlling new husband and his 9-year-old daughter, she begins to exhibit strange behavior such as sleepwalking and nightmares. These ailments soon permeate her everyday life as her husband struggles to diagnose her physical and mental issues. Angela's burgeoning aggression becomes directed at her step-daughter Maddie, whose silent pleas to her father go unnoticed. Adam Cushman
Adam Cushman (born October 10, 1974) is an American film director, producer, screenwriter and author. He directed the films Restraint and The Maestro. His books include the novel "''Cut''" (2014) and "''Critically Acclaimed''" (2018). Life and career Cushman grew up in Miami, Florida and attended The University of Miami and Columbia University for graduate studies. In 2017 he wrote and directed the psychological horror film Restraint starring Dana Ashbrook and Caitlyn Folley. The film was released in November 2018 by Breaking Glass Pictures. His second feature film was the historical period drama The Maestro, starring Xander Berkeley as real-life composer Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Restraint premiered at the Rhode Island International Film Festival in 2018, where it won the festival's top prize, the "''Best Narrative Feature''" award. Buffalo International Film Festival
The Buffalo International Film Festival was founded in 2006, and takes place in October of each year in Buffalo, New York. It is also known as the Buffalo Film Festival. History The film festival became a 501c3 not-for-profit charity in January 2005. In 2007 it was responsible for the discovery of the Vitascope Theater, part of Edisonia Hall, the first purpose-built movie theater in the world which opened in 1896. The festival now sponsors a yearly event celebrating the creation of the Movie Theater in Buffalo. Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival
The Downtown Los Angeles Film Festival (DTLAFF) is an annual film festival based in Downtown Los Angeles. History The festival was founded in 2008 and the venue used is the Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live. The Grammy Museum helped sponsor the festival in 2009. As of 2018, the festival is the largest film and television event in the downtown area. Some of the feature films that screened that year previously debuted at Tribeca Festival, South by Southwest and Sundance Film Festival. The festival was previously known as Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles (DFFLA). Since 2019, Greg Ptaceck has managed the festival which showcased over 100 films that year, most of which were directed by women. Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) takes place every year in Providence and Newport, Rhode Island as well as satellite locations throughout the state.
