Relax (Deetah Song)
"Relax" is the first single by Chilean-Swedish singer/songwriter Deetah, released on 14 September 1998 through FFRR Records. Produced by Anders Bagge and Bloodshy and co-written by Deetah and Bagge, the song contains a prominent sample of "Why Worry" by British rock band Dire Straits, so Mark Knopfler is also credited as co-writer. "Relax" is included on Deetah's first studio album, ''Deadly Cha Cha'' (1999). Upon its release, the song became a top-20 hit in Iceland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. In the UK, it entered the top 10 on both the Scottish Singles Chart and the UK R&B Singles Chart. Background and release "Relax" was written by Anders Bagge and Deetah under her real name, Claudia Ogalde. Deetah
Claudia Ogalde (born 29 February 1976), better known as Deetah, is a singer, songwriter and rapper. Deetah's name is a shortening of a childhood nickname, "Claudita". She was born in Chile but moved to Stockholm at age six when her family fled the country's political turmoil. In the mid-1990s, she launched a singing career with the group Goldmine and appeared on tracks by Tupac Shakur, The Notorious B.I.G., and Ophﾃｩlie Winter. Her debut solo album ''Deadly Cha Cha'' was released in 1998. The album yielded two top 40 hits on the UK Singles Chart: the song "Relax", which samples Dire Straits' "Why Worry", reached No. 11, and "El Paraiso Rico", which samples Madonna's "La Isla Bonita", peaked at No. 39. She also appeared on Richard Blackwood's hit single, "1-2-3-4 Get with the Wicked". James Masterton (born 2 September 1973) is a British music critic and columnist, his work focusing on the UK Singles Chart having been an online fixture on various sites since the 1990s. Masterton is also a producer for talkSPORT, and has worked on air as a presenter at the Bradford independent local radio station the Pulse. Music writing Masterton began posting his weekly comments about the latest singles chart on Usenet in 1992, while a student at Lancaster University, whence he graduated in 1994.
