Queensland Institute Of Medical Research
The QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute (QIMR Berghofer) is an Australian medical research institute located in , Brisbane, in the state of Queensland. QIMR was established in 1945 by the Government of Queensland through the enactment of the ''Queensland Institute of Medical Research Act 1945'' (Qld). Previously known as the Queensland Institute of Medical Research (QIMR), the original purpose of the institute was to further the study of tropical diseases in North Queensland. The current director is Professor Fabienne Mackay. The institute is a registered charity. In 2021, the institute was named as one of the Queensland Greats by the Queensland Government. Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is a public research university located in the urban coastal city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. QUT is located on two campuses in the Brisbane area viz. Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove. Mater Group was formed in 2016 by aligning Mater Health, Mater Education, Mater Research and Mater Foundation under a single, unified banner. Mater provides care for some 500,000 patients each year. Clive John Berghofer (born 4 March 1935) is an Australian property developer, politician and philanthropist. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly, Alderman and Mayor of Toowoomba. Mike Ahern (Australian Politician)
Michael John Ahern (born 2 June 1942) is a former Queensland National Party politician who was Premier of Queensland from December 1987 to September 1989. After a long career in the government of Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen, Ahern became his successor amid the controversy caused by the Fitzgerald Inquiry into official corruption. Ahern's consensus style and political moderation contrasted strongly with Bjelke-Petersen's leadership, but he could not escape the division and strife caused by his predecessor's downfall. Herston is an inner suburb of the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Herston had a population of 2,215 people. Geography Herston is located by car north of the Brisbane GPO.
