Queen Anne's Railroad
The Queen Anne’s Railroad was a railroad that ran between Love Point, Maryland, and Lewes, Delaware, with connections to Baltimore via ferry across the Chesapeake Bay. The Queen Anne's Railroad company was formed in Maryland in 1894, and received legislative authorization from Delaware in February 1895. The railroad's original western terminus was in Queenstown, Maryland, and was moved via a extension to Love Point in 1902, which shortened the ferry trip to Baltimore. The Queen Anne's Railroad Company began operating a summer-only Cape May Express between Queenstown and Lewes in 1901 with a connecting steamer across the Delaware Bay to Cape May, New Jersey. The company owned and operated the Queen Anne's Ferry & Equipment Company which consisted of the steamers Endeavor, Queen Anne and Queen Caroline. Stevensville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, United States, and is the county's most populous place among both CDPs and municipalities. The community is the eastern terminus of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The Stevensville Historic District is one of two registered historic districts in the county, the other being the Centreville Historic District. History Stevensville was founded in 1850 as a steamboat terminal. Today, the Stevensville Historic District contains roughly 100 historic structures dating back to the town's early days. Hillsboro is a town in Caroline County, Maryland, United States. The population was 161 at the 2010 United States Census. Daffin House and St. Paul's Episcopal Church were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. History Hillsboro is the oldest town in Caroline County. Evidence shows that as early as 1694 there was an Anglican chapel-of-ease located on the Eastern bank of the Tuckahoe. Wye Mills is an unincorporated community in Talbot County, Maryland, United States, located at an altitude of . Wye Mills is located at the intersection of Maryland routes 404 and 662, just south of the Queen Anne's County border. Notable landmarks Wye Mills is the home of the Wye Mill which has been in nearly continuous operation since 1682. Today, it houses a museum in addition to its mill operations. ''The News Journal'' is the main newspaper for Wilmington, Delaware, and the surrounding area.
