Quartermaster is a military term, the meaning of which depends on the country and service. In land army, armies, a quartermaster is an officer who supervises military logistics, logistics and requisitions, manages stores or barracks, and distributes materiel, supplies and wikt:provision, provisions. In many navy, navies, a quartermaster is a seaman or petty officer with responsibility for navigation and operation of the helm of a ship. The term appears to derive from the title of a German royal official, the . This term meant "master of quarters" (where "quarters" refers to lodging or accommodation). Quartermaster Canyon
Quartermaster Canyon is a valley (a side canyon) in the Grand Canyon west of Grand Canyon National Park, in the Hualapai Indian Reservation in U.S. state of Arizona. The canyon's namesake is Quartermaster, a member of the Hualapai tribe who settled there in the early 20th century. Quartermaster Canyon is a popular destination for Grand Canyon helicopter tours. Quartermaster Harbor
Quartermaster Harbor is a small harbor located in southern Puget Sound, in Vashon Island, Washington state. Geographic description Quartermaster Harbor is formed by Vashon Island on the west and Maury Island on the east. It opens about east of the Tahlequah, Washington ferry landing at the south end of Vashon Island, with the entrance between Neill Point on Vashon Island and Piner Point on Maury Island. It is a nearly five-mile-long inlet, about a half-mile wide, that extends about north between the islands. It then turns east into the bay at Dockton, swings north around Burton Peninsula, past Portage and turns west, ending in the "inner harbor" at Burton. The harbor is sheltered and has no commercial marine traffic. The harbor itself is shallow, with a maximum depth of about ten meters at high tide. The bottom is sand and mud with abundant shellfish.
