Puella Magi Madoka Magica
, also known simply as ''Madoka Magica'', is a Japanese anime television series created by Magica Quartet, and animated by Shaft. The story follows a group of middle school girls, led by protagonist Madoka Kaname, who make supernatural contracts to become magical girls. In battling surreal enemies known as "witches", they learn of the anguish and peril associated with their new roles. The first ten episodes of the series aired on TBS and MBS between January and March 2011, while the final two episodes were delayed until April of the same year due to the Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. A manga adaptation of the anime and various spin-off manga have been published by Houbunsha and licensed in North America by Yen Press. A novelization by Nitroplus was released in August 2011, and a dedicated magazine, ''Manga Time Kirara Magica'', was launched by Houbunsha in June 2012. Homura Akemi
is a fictional character in the 2011 Japanese anime television series ''Puella Magi Madoka Magica''. A mysterious magical girl who first appears in one of Madoka Kaname's nightmares, Homura tries her best to prevent Madoka from making a contract with the messenger of magic, Kyubey. As the story progresses, it is revealed that Homura is a time traveler and has seen Madoka die countless times whenever she makes a contract with Kyubey. Akiyuki Shinbo
is a Japanese animator, director, compositional writer, and storyboard artist. Best known for his works with Shaft (company), Shaft, he has attained international recognition for his unique visual style and storytelling methods. Born in Koori, Fukushima, Koori, Fukushima Prefecture, Shinbo began his career in the early 1980s as an animator, but his true rise to fame in the industry occurred when he received the opportunity to direct for series produced by Pierrot (company), Pierrot at the turn of the decade and early 90s.
