Private Eye (TV Series)
''Private Eye'' is an American crime drama television series created by Anthony Yerkovich that aired on NBC from September 13, 1987 until January 8, 1988. Premise The series is about an ex-cop (Michael Woods) in 1950s L.A. He works as private eye. When he is hunting the murderer of his brother he meets a young rockabilly street hustler (Josh Brolin) who will help him and eventually becomes his pal. Crime Drama
Crime films, in the broadest sense, is a film genre inspired by and analogous to the crime fiction literary genre. Films of this genre generally involve various aspects of crime and its detection. Stylistically, the genre may overlap and combine with many other genres, such as drama or gangster film, but also include comedy, and, in turn, is divided into many sub-genres, such as mystery, suspense or noir. Screenwriter and scholar Eric R. Williams identified crime film as one of eleven super-genres in his Screenwriters Taxonomy, claiming that all feature-length narrative films can be classified by these super-genres. The other ten super-genres are action, fantasy, horror, romance, science fiction, slice of life, sports, thriller, war and western. Williams identifies drama in a broader category called "film type", mystery and suspense as "macro-genres", and film noir as a "screenwriter's pathway" explaining that these categories are additive rather than exclusionary. Paul Lynch (director)
Paul Lynch (born June 11, 1946) is a Canadian film director and television director. Lynch came to Canada in 1960. He left school to become a cartoonist for the ''Toronto Star'' and then served as a photographer for a number of small-town newspapers. This led to work in film, including a 90-minute documentary on ''Penthouse'' magazine commissioned by its publisher, Bob Guccione. His first feature film was '' The Hard Part Begins''. This was followed by the box-office hit '' Prom Night'', a straightforward slasher film starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen. Lynch has only made movies periodically, pursuing instead a career directing for American television. James Quinn is an American film and television director. In the film industry, he has only worked as an assistant director on the films ''Smokey and the Bandit'' (1977), ''The Last Waltz'' (1978), '' Rich and Famous'' (1981), ''Gremlins'' (1984) and other films.
