Portland State Vikings Men's Basketball
The Portland State Vikings men's basketball team represents Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. The team was also once referred to as "The Park Block Bombers" in reference to the school's proximity to Portland's string of park blocks. The school's team competes in the Big Sky Conference. The team appearances in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament have been in 2008 and 2009. The head coach of the Vikings is Jase Coburn. Big Sky Conference
The Big Sky Conference (BSC) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the NCAA's Division I with football competing in the Football Championship Subdivision. Member institutions are located in the western United States in the eight states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Utah, and Washington. Four affiliate members each participate in one sport: two from California are football–only participants and two from the Northeast participate only in men's golf. The Armenia Basketball League A (Armenian: ), is the top men's official basketball league in Armenia. The first season of the competition was launched in 2017. Daniel P. Burke (born April 3, 1959, in Lynwood, California) is an American basketball coach who serves as assistant coach for the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Coaching career Portland Trail Blazers Burke spent eight seasons (1989–1997) with the Trail Blazers and went to the playoffs each time including three Western Conference finals and two NBA Finals appearances in 1990 and 1992. Freeman Williams Jr. (May 15, 1956 – April 19, 2022) was an American professional basketball player in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Portland State Vikings, where he was a two-time All-American and twice led the nation in scoring. The 1956 NAIA basketball tournament was held in March at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. The 19th annual NAIA basketball tournament featured 32 teams playing in a single-elimination format. 1956 would be the last tournament with unseeded teams. The 1955 NAIA basketball tournament was held in March at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri. NAIA Men's Basketball Championships
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics men's basketball national championship has been held annually since 1937 (with the exception of 1944 and 2020). The tournament was established by James Naismith to crown a national champion for smaller colleges and universities. Through the 2019–20 season, the NAIA Tournament featured 32 teams, and the entire tournament was contested at one location in one week, rather than multiple locations over a series of weekends. Beginning with the 2021 edition, the tournament expanded to 48 teams, starting with play at 16 regional sites, with only the winners at these sites playing at the final venue.
