Pontifical Academy For Latin
The Pontifical Academy for Latin () is an organization established in 2012 to promote appreciation for the Latin language and culture. The Academy replaced the Latinitas Foundation, which Pope Paul VI erected in 1976, and is linked to the Dicastery for Culture and Education on which it depends. Its headquarters is located in Vatican City. Creation The Pontifical Academy for Latin was established on 10 November 2012, by Pope Benedict XVI through the motu proprio ''Latina Lingua''. Manlio Sodi, (22 January 1944) is an Italian priest, theologian and liturgist and is an Ordinary professor emeritus of the Salesian Pontifical University. He resides in the diocese of Montepulciano-Chiusi-Pienza. Sodi is the author of dictionaries, editor of series and periodicals, with numerous studies and articles published in Italian and foreign journals. Biography Sodi was born in Sinalunga. Ivano Dionigi (born February 20, 1948, in Pesaro) is an Italian lecturer and rector.
