Playa Baracoa Airport is an airport west of Havana, Cuba. It is located in the municipality of Caimito, Artemisa Province, in front of the village of Playa Baracoa, belonging to the neighboring municipality of Bauta. Caimito, Cuba
Caimito is a municipality and town in Artemisa Province of Cuba. The town was founded in 1820. The municipality of ''Caimito del Guayabal'' was created in 1910, based on the previously existing (1879–1902) municipality of Guayabal in the Pinar del Río Province. Since 1976, the official name is Caimito. Artemisa Province
Artemisa Province is one of the two new provinces created from the former La Habana Province, whose creation was approved by the Cuban National Assembly on August 1, 2010, the other being Mayabeque Province. The new provinces came into existence on January 1, 2011. Overview Artemisa was the largest city and municipality of the former La Habana Province. Playa Baracoa, sometimes shortened as ''Baracoa'', is a Cuban village and ''consejo popular'' ("people's council", i.e. hamlet) of the municipality of Bauta, in Artemisa Province. Bauta is a municipality and town located southwest of Havana City, in the Artemisa Province of Cuba since 2010 as a result of the division of what was the Province of Havana (Havana Countryside). The Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces ( es, Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias; FAR) are the military forces of Cuba. The Yakovlev Yak-40 (russian: Яковлев Як-40; NATO reporting name: Codling) is a regional jet designed by Yakovlev. The trijet's maiden flight was in 1966, and it was in production from 1967 to 1981. Introduced in September 1968, the Yak-40 has been exported since 1970. Development By the early 1960s, Soviet international and internal trunk routes were served by Aeroflot, the state airline, using jet or turboprop powered airliners, but their local services, many of which operated from grass airfields, were served by obsolete piston-engine aircraft such as the Ilyushin Il-12, Il-14 and Lisunov Li-2.Stroud 1968, p. 269–270.
