Plataforma Per La Llengua
Plataforma per la Llengua (literally: Pro-Language Platform) is a non-governmental organization born in 1993 in Barcelona, in order to defend and promote the Catalan language all over the Catalan-speaking territories in the European states where it is spoken: Spain, France, Andorra and Italy. Their activities include the development of sociolinguistic studies and a constant monitoring on the status of Catalan, in collaboration with other organizations, foundations and public agencies. While based in Barcelona, it has delegations in Valencian Community, Alghero and in several Catalan regions. Moreover, Plataforma per la Llengua works together with some Northern Catalonia, La Franja, Andorra and Balearic Islands organizations. There are many aims; one of them is to guarantee the linguistic rights of Catalan-speaking people and the use of Catalan as a connection tool in the fields and territories where it is spoken. Jordi Porta i Ribalta (1 July 1936 – 14 June 2023) was a Spanish cultural administrator and writer. Life and career Born in Barcelona, in 1967 Porta graduated in philosophy at the University of Barcelona. In 1971, he became president of the , directing the foundation until 2001. Between 2002 and 2010 he was president of Òmnium Cultural, and between 2000 and 2009 he was Síndic de Greuges (ombudsman) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He also served as president of the Enciclopèdia Catalana Foundation (2011–2015) and of the UNESCO Centre of Catalonia (2010–2014). Aina Moll Marquès
Aina Moll Marquès (1 December 1930 – 9 February 2019) was a Spanish philologist and politician, who served as director of Linguistic Policy of the Generalitat de Catalunya. She was a recipient of Creu de Sant Jordi and the Ramon Llull Award. Biography Aina Moll was born in Ciutadella de Menorca on 1 December 1930. She was the eldest daughter of Francesc de Borja Moll, with whom she collaborated in the last two volumes of the '' Diccionari català-valencià-balear''. Manaslu
Manaslu (; , also known as Kutang) is the List of highest mountains#List, eighth-highest mountain in the world at above sea level. Martí Gasull I Roig
Martí Gasull i Roig (Barcelona, Catalonia, 2 April 1969 - Manaslu, Nepal, 23 September 2012) was a Catalan linguistic activist and a mountaineer, one of the founders of the Platform for the Catalan Language (Plataforma per la Llengua). He was fully involved in the organisation's coordination, becoming its ideologist. He combined his love for the Catalan language and culture with his great passion for mountaineering. On 23 September 2012, he died in an accident on Manaslu in Nepal. Martí Gasull i Roig work’s has been appreciated many times. The Government of Catalonia (Generalitat de Catalunya) posthumously awarded him the Cross of St George (Creu de Sant Jordi)on 9 October 2012. Patrícia Gabancho
Patrícia Gabancho Ghielmetti (29 September 1952 – 28 November 2017) was an Argentine-born Spanish author and journalist, writing in Catalan. She primarily focused her writings on culture (including theatre, tango and literature), history, politics and urbanism, especially in regards to Barcelona and Catalan culture. She was an active member in the Catalan movement and a member of La Plataforma per la Llengua. In 2012, she was awarded the Prudenci Bertrana Prize for her novel ''La néta d'Adam''. Born in Buenos Aires, Gabancho emigrated to Barcelona the day prior to her 22nd birthday.
