Phantasy Star Series
is a series of console role-playing video games and other supplementary media created by Sega. The series debuted in 1987 on the Master System with ''Phantasy Star'', and continues into the present with ''Phantasy Star Online 2'' and other extensions of the '' Phantasy Star Online'' sub-series. Each of the games in the series features a science fantasy setting featuring a cross-genre combination of magic and technology. The first four games in the series are set in or related to the fictional planetary system of Algol, and are single-player turn-based role-playing games. Later games in the series are chiefly action role-playing games, and some contain massively multiplayer online game elements. There are currently four distinct ''Phantasy Star'' subseries, each set in their own universe. Yuji Naka
, credited in some games as YU2, is a Japanese video game programmer, designer and producer. He is the former head of the Sega studio Sonic Team, where he was the lead programmer of the original '' Sonic the Hedgehog'' series on the Sega Mega Drive. Naka also led development on games including '' Nights into Dreams'' (1996), ''Burning Rangers'' (1998), '' Sonic Adventure'' (1998) and three games in the ''Phantasy Star'' franchise (1987–2000). In 2006, Naka left Sega to found Prope, an independent game company. He joined Square Enix to direct the platform game '' Balan Wonderworld'' (2021), which reunited him with the ''Sonic'' co-creator Naoto Ohshima. After the game underperformed critically and commercially, Naka announced he had left Square Enix. In 2022, he said he had been removed from ''Balan Wonderworld'' before it was released and sued Square Enix. The PlayStation Vita (PS Vita, or Vita) is a handheld video game console developed and marketed by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was first released in Japan on December 17, 2011, and in North America, Europe, and other international territories beginning on February 22, 2012. It is a successor to the PlayStation Portable, and a part of the PlayStation brand of gaming devices; as part of the eighth generation of video game consoles, it primarily competed with the Nintendo 3DS. Phantasy Star Online 2
is a free-to-play online action role-playing game in the ''Phantasy Star'' series, developed and published by Sega. It was created as a successor to ''Phantasy Star Online'' and '' Phantasy Star Universe'', ''Phantasy Star Online 2'' features gameplay elements and aesthetics reminiscent of previous ''Phantasy Star'' games while incorporating a few unique twists on the formula. The first version was released for Windows in Japan in July 2012. A PlayStation Vita version was released in February 2013, but shut down in September 2020. Phantasy Star (video Game)

One of the earliest Japanese RPGs for consoles, ''Phantasy Star'' tells the story of Alis on her journey to defeat the evil ruler of her star system, King Lassic, after her brother dies at his hands. Sega Saturn

Part of the fifth generation of video game consoles, it was the successor to the successful Sega Genesis. The Saturn has a dual-CPU architecture and eight processors.
