Peter T. King
Peter Thomas King (born April 5, 1944) is an American former politician and novelist who represented New York (state), New York in the United States House of Representatives, U.S. House of Representatives from 1993 to 2021. A member of the Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, he represented a South Shore (Long Island), South Shore Long Island district that includes parts of Nassau County, New York, Nassau County and Suffolk County, New York, Suffolk County and was numbered as the New York's 3rd congressional district, 3rd and later the New York's 2nd congressional district, 2nd district. King was formerly chair of the United States House Committee on Homeland Security, House Committee on Homeland Security. He stepped down because of Republican conference term limits, but remained a member of the committee. 69th Infantry Regiment (New York)
The 69th Infantry Regiment is an infantry regiment of the United States Army. It is from New York City, part of the New York Army National Guard. It is known as the "Fighting Sixty-Ninth", a name said to have been given by Robert E. Lee during the Civil War. An Irish-American heritage is attributed to the regiment, which is also nicknamed the "Fighting Irish" – a tradition mentioned in Joyce Kilmer's poem "When the 69th Comes Back". Between 1917 and 1992 it was also designated the 165th Infantry Regiment. It is headquartered at the 69th Regiment Armory in Manhattan. The regiment currently consists of a single light infantry battalion (1st Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment) and is part of the 27th Infantry Brigade of the 42nd Infantry Division. Sunnyside, Queens
Sunnyside is a neighborhood in the western portion of the New York City Borough (New York City), borough of Queens. It shares borders with Hunters Point, Queens, Hunters Point and Long Island City to the west, Astoria, Queens, Astoria to the north, Woodside, Queens, Woodside to the east and Maspeth, Queens, Maspeth to the south. South Shore (Long Island)
The South Shore of Long Island, in the U.S. state of New York, is the area along Long Island's Atlantic Ocean shoreline. Description Though some consider the South Shore to include parts of Queens, particularly the beach communities in the Rockaways such as Belle Harbor, the term is generally used to refer to the Long Island coastline in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
