Parliament Of Curaçao
The Parliament of Curaçao ( pap, Parlamento di Kòrsou, nl, Staten van Curaçao) consist of 21 members, each elected for a four-year term in a general election. Curaçao president of parliament is Charetti America-Francisca. The first Parliament was installed on 10 October 2010, following the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles, and consisted of the members of the island council elected on 27 August 2010. The first Speaker of the Parliament was Ivar Asjes (Pueblo Soberano), while Amerigo Thodé ( Movementu Futuro Korsou) was the Deputy Speaker. The incumbent Speaker of Parliament is Charetti America-Francisca. Speakers 2021 general election Building The parliament is housed in the Statengebouw on the Julianaplein in Punda. The building has 21 steps representing the 21 seats. Between 2010 and 2014, the parliament met in the building of the Island Council on Ansinghstraat, because the building was being renovated. Curaçao ( ; ; pap, Kòrsou, ), officially the Country of Curaçao ( nl, Land Curaçao; pap, Pais Kòrsou), is a Lesser Antilles island country in the southern Caribbean Sea and the Dutch Caribbean region, about north of the Venezuela coast. Amerigo Thodé
Amerigo C.M. Thodé (born 27 July 1950) is a Curaçaoan politician of the Movement for the Future of Curaçao (MFK). He served as President of the Estates of Curaçao between November and December 2012 and once again from 24 March 2017 and 11 May 2017. Career In the 2000s Thodé served as secretary-general of the Party Workers' Liberation Front 30 May (FOL). He later switched to Movement for the Future of Curaçao. At the first meeting of the Estates of Curaçao on 10 October 2010 Thodé was elected Vice President. On 2 November 2012 Thodé was elected President of the Estates. After a new government coalition did not include Thodé's MFK he resigned as President of the Estates on 6 December 2012. In January 2016 Thodé was convicted of leaking confidential information from a meeting from the College of Financial Oversight. Democratic Party (Curaçao)
The Democratic Party ( pap, Partido Democraat, nl, Democratische Partij) is a liberal party in Curaçao founded in 1944. The party has participated in elections for the Estates of the Netherlands Antilles (Curaçao constituency) and the Island Council of Curaçao until the dissolution of the Netherlands Antilles in 2010, obtaining a single seat in the island council in 2007. By obtaining 1019 registrations of support, the party qualified (a minimum of 743 was required) for participation in the Curaçao General Election of 2012 on 19 October in a combined list with Laboral named Partido Democrat Laboral, where it obtained 1.2% of the votes but failed to obtain any seats. The Movement for the Future of Curaçao ( nl, Beweging voor de Toekomst van Curaçao, pap, Movementu Futuro Kòrsou, MFK) is a political party in Curaçao, founded by Gerrit Schotte in 2010, which has 9 of the 21 seats in the Estates of Curaçao after the 2021 elections. William Millerson
William Millerson (10 January 1953 – 20 June 2020) was a Curaçaoan politician and Dutch karateka. He had an 8th Dan in karate, and was the winner of multiple European Karate Championships medals. Between 1998 and 2014 he was first vice-president of the World Karate Federation. In 2011 Millerson, also nicknamed "Junior" was invested as a Knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau. Early life and sports career Millerson was born on 10 January 1953 in Aruba. He was partially of Surinamese descent. Millerson started to become interested in Wadō-ryū karate while studying in the Netherlands. Gilmar Simon Pisas (born 28 February 1971) is a Curaçaoan politician and current Prime Minister of Curaçao, serving since 14 June 2021. He previously served as Prime Minister between 24 March 2017 and 29 May 2017, and as a member of the Parliament of Curaçao until June 2021. Early life and career Pisas was born on 28 October 1971.
