Paraguayan Episcopal Conference
The Paraguayan Episcopal Conference (Spanish: Conferencia Episcopal Paraguaya, CEP) is an agency of the Catholic Church which gathers the bishops of Paraguay. History Since 1929 some bishops of the country are beginning to exercise a collegial teaching by issuing joint pastoral letters and decrees, and agree to meet regularly since 1955. The following year he founded the Episcopal Conference in Paraguay, which then becomes Venerable Episcopado Paraguayo, and finally assumed its present name in 1960. A pastor (abbreviated as "Pr" or "Ptr" , or "Ps" ) is the leader of a Christian congregation who also gives advice and counsel to people from the community or congregation. Eustaquio Pastor Cuquejo Verga C.Ss.R. (20 September 1939 – 22 August 2023) was a Paraguayan Roman Catholic prelate who was the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Asunción. Biography Cuquejo was born on San Estanislao on 20 September 1939. He joined the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer in 1957. From 1959 to 1964 he studied theology and philosophy at the Redemptorist priest's seminar in Esopus, New York. There he received his holy orders on 21 June 1964. He then studied pastoral psychology in Annapolis, Maryland. After a short time as a vicar in Paraguay, he became professor and apostolic prefect at the seminar of the Redemptorists in Ponta Grossa, Brazil on 21 July 1968, and from 1973 professor of moral theology at the Theologicum de Curitiba.
