Punkin Center is an unincorporated community in Gila County, Arizona, United States. The community is located within the Tonto Basin at the confluence of Reno and Tonto creeks. Payson is 29 miles to the north along Arizona Route 188 and Arizona Route 87 State Route 87 (SR 87) is a north–south highway that travels from I-10 near Picacho northward to State Route 264 near Second Mesa. Route description SR 87 begins to the north of I-10 at a junction with an unsigned orphan segment of SR 84 .... Roosevelt Lake is eight miles to the south on Route 188. Punkin Center is a small, rural unincorporated community in Lincoln County, Colorado, United States, located at the junction of State Highway 94 and State Highway 71. Description John Stevens built the first store at the farmers crossroads in 1920. He painted each new building a pumpkin color, inspiring the name. Everything burned in the 1950s. Its mostly white population was 4 according to a Denver Post article.Lincoln County Information Office There is a communication tower near the intersection of the highways, and a larger communication tower about southwest of the intersection. Haynesville (also known as Punkin Center) is an unincorporated community in Wichita County, Texas, United States. It has an estimated population of 60. Haynesville is part of the Wichita Falls metropolitan area. History The community was established in 1890 and originally named Punkin Center, but later renamed after Henry Haynes, a county commissioner and local farmer. During most of the 20th century, Haynesville's population ranged between roughly 60 and 100 residents.
