Proximity Effect (atomic Physics)
Atomic physics is the field of physics that studies atoms as an isolated system of electrons and an atomic nucleus. Atomic physics typically refers to the study of atomic structure and the interaction between atoms. It is primarily concerned with Electron configuration, the way in which electrons are arranged around the nucleus and the processes by which these arrangements change. This comprises ions, neutral atoms and, unless otherwise stated, it can be assumed that the term ''atom'' includes ions. The term ''atomic physics'' can be associated with nuclear power and nuclear weapons, due to the synonymous use of ''atomic'' and ''nuclear'' in standard English. Physicists distinguish between atomic physics—which deals with the atom as a system consisting of a nucleus and electrons—and nuclear physics, which studies nuclear reactions and special properties of atomic nuclei. As with many scientific fields, strict delineation can be highly contrived and atomic physics is often co ... Proximity Effect (audio)
The proximity effect in audio is an increase in bass or low frequency response when a sound source is close to a directional or cardioid microphone.Proximity Effect in Directional Microphones Shure Pro Audio Technical Library Proximity effect is a change in the frequency response of a directional pattern microphone that results in an emphasis on lower frequencies. It is caused by the use of ports to create directional polar pickup patterns, so omni-directional microphones do not exhibit the effect (this is not necessarily true of the "omni" pattern on multipattern condenser mics, which create the "omni" pattern by summing two back-to-back cardioid capsules, which may or may not share a common backplate.) Proximity effect can be viewed in two way ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Proximity Effect (comics)
''Proximity Effect'' is a comic book series written by Scott Tucker and Aron Coleite. Penciled by David Nakayama. This OGN saw its first two issues published online, with the third available only as part of the trade paperback. The idea for the series is that some humans have the capacity for superhuman abilities, but only when within a certain distance of another special human. This "proximity effect" has been studied by the US government and private citizens. Since the 'generator' individuals are infinitely rarer than the "receivers", a race has begun to find these people and sequence their genes for that particular trait. Proximity Effect (electromagnetism)
In electromagnetism, electromagnetics, proximity effect is a redistribution of electric current occurring in nearby parallel electrical conductors carrying alternating current (AC), caused by magnetic effects. In adjacent conductors carrying AC current in the same direction, it causes the current in the conductor to concentrate on the side away from the nearby conductor. In conductors carrying AC current in opposite directions, it causes the current in the conductor to concentrate on the side adjacent to the nearby conductor. Proximity effect is caused by eddy currents induced within a conductor by the time-varying magnetic field of the other conductor, by electromagnetic induction. For example, in a coil of wire carrying alternating current with multiple turns of wire lying next to each other, the current in each wire will be concentrated in a strip on each side of the wire facing away from the adjacent wires. This "current crowding" effect causes the current to occupy a smalle ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Proximity Effect (electron Beam Lithography)
The proximity effect in electron beam lithography (EBL) is the phenomenon that the exposure dose distribution, and hence the developed pattern, is wider than the scanned pattern due to the interactions of the primary beam electrons with the resist and substrate. These cause the resist outside the scanned pattern to receive a non-zero dose. The proximity effect can result in overexposure or underexposure. Important contributions to weak-resist polymer chain scission (for positive resists) or crosslinking (for negative resists) come from electron forward scattering and backscattering. The forward scattering process is due to electron-electron interactions which deflect the primary electrons by a typically small angle, thus statistically broadening the beam in the resist (and further in the substrate). The majority of the electrons do not stop in the resist but penetrate the substrate. These electrons can still contribute to resist exposure by scattering back into the resist and cau ... The Proximity Effect (Nada Surf Album)
''The Proximity Effect'' is the second album by the alternative rock band Nada Surf. It was released by Elektra Records in Europe in 1998, and by MarDev in North America in August 2000. Recording Finding no radio-friendly single on the album, Elektra asked the band to write a hit, had them record covers of other artists, and tried to push "Why Are You So Mean To Me?" as the first single. The band refused and, after its release in Europe in September 1998, the band did a 30-show tour in France in early 1999. Elektra dropped the band, initially setting a high purchase price for the rights to the album. The band eventually released the album in the United States via their own label, MarDev, in 2000. The Proximity Effect (Laki Mera Album)
''The Proximity Effect'' is the second studio album by Laki Mera and their first release from the Just Music label. Released in May 2011, the album was well-received, being described in ''The Sunday Times'' as "a dense folktronic architecture with an intricacy and subtlety that recalls the Blue Nile, Cocteau Twins and Portishead." The single, "Fool", from the album was named ''The Daily Record'''s single of the week.
