Antoninus Pius
Titus Aelius Hadrianus Antoninus Pius (; ; 19 September 86 – 7 March 161) was Roman emperor from AD 138 to 161. He was the fourth of the Five Good Emperors from the Nerva–Antonine dynasty. Born into a senatorial family, Antoninus held various offices during the reign of Emperor Hadrian. He married Hadrian's niece Faustina the Elder, Faustina, and Hadrian adopted him as his son and successor shortly before his death. Antoninus acquired the cognomen Pius after his accession to the throne, either because he compelled the Roman Senate, Senate to Roman imperial cult, deify his adoptive father, or because he had saved senators sentenced to death by Hadrian in his later years. His reign is notable for the peaceful state of the Empire, with no major revolts or military incursions during this time. Pius Lasisi Jimoh (10 February 1950 – 29 March 2014) was an Ebira born businessman and a Second Nigerian Republic, Second Republic Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing the then Kwara South (Okene/Okehi), now Kogi Central Senatorial District from August–December 1983. He was the deputy minority leader and the youngest lawmaker ever elected to the senate at the age of 33. Pius Langa
Pius Nkonzo Langa SCOB (25 March 1939 – 24 July 2013) was Chief Justice of South Africa from June 2005 to October 2009. Formerly a human rights lawyer, he was appointed as a puisne judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa upon its inception in 1995. He was the Deputy Chief Justice of South Africa from November 2001 until May 2005, when President Thabo Mbeki elevated him to the Chief Justiceship. He was South Africa's first black African Chief Justice. The son of a Zulu pastor, Langa left school as a teenager to enter the workforce. Over the next two decades, he studied for his matric certificate while working in a clothing factory and then studied for his legal qualifications while working as a civil servant in the Department of Justice. Pius Adebola Adesanmi (27 February 1972 – 10 March 2019) was a Nigerian-born Canadian academic and author. He was the author of '' Naija No Dey Carry Last'', a 2015 collection of satirical essays. Adesanmi died on 10 March 2019, when Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed shortly after take-off. Biography Adesanmi was born in Isanlu, in Yagba East local government area of Kogi State, Nigeria. Pius Louis Schwert (November 22, 1892 – March 11, 1941) was an American politician and professional baseball player. He played for the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball and was a member of the United States House of Representatives from from 1939 to 1941. A member of the Democratic Party, Schwert was elected county clerk of Erie County in 1933 and reelected in 1936. He was elected to Congress in 1938 and reelected in 1940. Schwert died following a heart attack as he was giving a speech on March 11, 1941. Early life Schwert was born in Angola, New York, on November 22, 1892. He was the only child of Louisa and Julius Schwert, who was the town supervisor of Evans, New York.
