Khao Chang
Khao Chang (เขาช้าง), is a 45 m high hill in Phang Nga Province, Thailand. It is in Phang Nga town behind city hall. Located within the compound of Wat Phra Paht Phra Chim temple, at the base of a mountain, is ''Phung Chang Cave'', also known as 'Elephant Belly Cave.' This cave is notable for its stalactites and stalagmites formations. Certain areas of the cave are permanently flooded, but they remain accessible to visitors via boat. Symbolism In the cultural context of Phang Nga, Khao Chang holds significant symbolic value. Its towering shape resembles a crouched elephant, a feature that has led to its inclusion in the provincial seal of Phang Nga. Amphoe
An amphoe (sometimes also ''amphur'', , )—usually translated as "district"—is the second level administrative subdivision of Thailand. Groups of ''amphoe'' or districts make up the Provinces of Thailand, provinces, and are analogous to county, counties. The chief district officer is ''Nai Amphoe'' (). ''Amphoe'' are divided into tambon, ''tambons'', (), or sub-districts. Altogether Thailand has 928 districts, including the 50 districts of Bangkok, which are called ''Khet (country subdivision), khet'' (เขต) since the Bangkok administrative reform of 1972. Mueang Phang Nga (, , ) is the capital district (''amphoe mueang'') of Phang Nga province in southern Thailand. Geography The district is bordered by several neighboring districts, arranged geographically. To the east, it shares borders with Thap Put District, Thap Put and Phanom District, Phanom districts of Surat Thani Province, Surat Thani province. Thesaban (, , , Pali: desapāla (protector of region) are the municipalities of Thailand. There are three levels of municipalities: city, town, and sub-district. Bangkok and Pattaya are special municipal entities not included in the ''thesaban'' system. The municipalities assume some of the responsibilities which are assigned to the districts (''amphoe'') or subdistricts (''tambon'') for non-municipal (rural) areas. Muban (; , ) is the lowest administrative sub-division of Thailand.
