Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. ''Hungry Hoboes'' (alternate spelling: ''Hungry Hobos'') is a silent Oswald the Lucky Rabbit cartoon released by Universal Studios in 1928. It had been lost since before World War II, and was rediscovered in 2011. Plot summary Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Peg Leg Pete are hobos riding on a train carrying cows and chickens. As they play checkers, they are annoyed by Clarabelle (as Bessie) and the cows around them. A chicken appears and they imagine having fried eggs. As Pete prepares a skillet, Oswald unsuccessfully tries to coerce the chicken into laying eggs. Finally he pulls the chicken's head off and extracts two eggs from its body. Since neither hobo has a match, Pete drags Oswald's rear end along the rail until his pants catch fire, then cooks the eggs by holding the skillet over Oswald's burning pants. Les Clark
Leslie James "Les" Clark (November 17, 1907 - September 12, 1979) was an American animator and the first of Disney's Nine Old Men. Joining Disney in 1927, he was the only one to work on the origins of Mickey Mouse with Ub Iwerks. Early life Les Clark was born in Ogden, Utah in 1907, the eldest of 12 children to James Clark, a carpenter,1910 United States Federal Census and Lute Wadsworth. By 1910, the family lived in Salt Lake City and by 1920, they lived in Twin Falls, Idaho. By 1930, they lived in Los Angeles, where Les attended Venice High School. During high school, he worked a summer job at an ice cream shop near Walt Disney Studios in Hollywood. Ben Clopton
Benjamin Ashby Clopton Jr. (July 27, 1906 – November 19, 1987) was an artist best known for his work on Walt Disney and Harman-Ising animated cartoons. Clopton was the fourth child of Benjamin Ashby and Hannah Olivia (Eklund) Clopton. His parents married in 1897 in the Gallatin Valley of Montana and settled between Deep Creek and Grayson, near Townsend, Montana, in 1910, where the family owned a ranch and raised dryland wheat. He attended the University of Missoula in the mid-1920s. ''Bright Lights'' is a 1928 silent cartoon short by the Walt Disney Studio and Winkler Productions featuring Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It is among the few short films of the series Walt Disney himself worked on before leaving that same year. Overview Previously in 1927, Oswald had an oval face, a chubbier waist, and pants with a single suspender. By 1928, he is given a makeover with a rounder head, slimmer waist, and shorts. Despite this change, the rabbit's 1927 appearance remained on the title cards until ''High Up''. His shorts would be his only outfit until 1930. ''Bambi'' is a 1942 American animated drama film directed by David Hand (supervising a team of sequence directors), produced by Walt Disney and based on the 1923 book ''Bambi, a Life in the Woods'' by Austrian author and hunter Felix Salten. Plot summary Oswald is big-game hunting in Africa, and is riding an elephant, which trips and then accidentally sits on Oswald, crushing him flat. The elephant blows air into Oswald, reinflating him. A variety of African animals are playing games, including two monkeys playing tic-tac-toe on a tiger's back. Oswald stealthily approaches with a rifle and shoots numerous shots at the animals, who all vanish. An owl laughs at Oswald, and angered, he shoots the owl.
