Oklahoma Joe's
Oklahoma Joe's is a barbecue restaurant owned and operated by Joe Davidson, with all locations in and around Tulsa, Oklahoma and Omaha, Nebraska. History Oklahoma Joe's was originally started by Joe Davidson as a smoker manufacturer, then a decade later launched its barbecue restaurant. The first Oklahoma Joe's opened in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in January 1996. A Kansas City location followed later that year, located inside a gas station at the corner of W 47th St and Mission Rd in Kansas City, Kansas. During the 1990s, Joe Davidson met Jeff and Joy Stehney while they were on the competition barbecue circuit with their team Slaughterhouse Five. Davidson and the Stehneys decided to go into the restaurant business together, and they opened Oklahoma Joe's in Stillwater, Oklahoma and in Kansas City, Kansas in 1996. Haymarket District (Lincoln, Nebraska)
Haymarket District is a historic section of downtown Lincoln, Nebraska. Overview The area is a tourist attraction and home to the Haymarket Park baseball stadium. Its historic significance has been recognized by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Lincoln Haymarket Historic District. The name Haymarket originated from the 1867 market square where hay, and travel items, were marketed. The warehouses have been readapted as retail shops. The district held a Halloween event in 2018. Dunn Loring Station
Dunn Loring is a Washington Metro station in Fairfax County, Virginia, on the Orange Line. The station is in Merrifield, with a Vienna mailing address. The station is in the median of Interstate 66 at Gallows Road, just outside the Capital Beltway, and is accessed by a footbridge over the eastbound lanes. History The station opened on June 7, 1986. Its opening coincided with the completion of of rail west of the Ballston station and the opening of the East Falls Church, West Falls Church and Vienna stations. By 1993, officials in Fairfax City were looking to add "Merrifield" to the station name. In 1998, the station name was changed to "Dunn Loring–Merrifield". On November 3, 2011, the station returned to its original name, with "Merrifield" listed as a subtitle. Leawood is a city in Johnson County, Kansas, United States, and is part of the Kansas City metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 33,902. History 19th century After the 1803 Louisiana Purchase, the area east of present-day Leawood opened for settlement. The Santa Fe Trail which ran through the area also contributed to the development of the area. The Border Ruffian War (1855-1857), part of a larger conflict known as Bleeding Kansas, damaged the local economy as pro-slavery activists from the slave state of Missouri attacked settlers, traders, and those traveling along the Santa Fe Trail. Olathe ( ) is the county seat of Johnson County, Kansas, United States. It is the fourth-most populous city in both the Kansas City metropolitan area and the state of Kansas, with a 2020 population of 141,290. History 19th century Olathe was founded by John T. Barton in the spring of 1857. He rode to the center of Johnson County, and staked two quarter sections of land as the town site.
