One For The Road (short Story)
"One for the Road" is a short story by Stephen King, first published in the March/April 1977 issue of ''Maine'', and later collected in King's 1978 collection '' Night Shift''. Plot summary Two years after the events of '' 'Salem's Lot'', vampires still prowl the burned-out remains of Jerusalem's Lot, Maine, and its environs. Residents of nearby towns, including the narrator Booth, live in unspoken fear, wearing religious symbols for protection and never venturing near the area. One night, Booth and his friend, bar owner Herb "Tookey" Tooklander, attempt to rescue the wife and daughter of a motorist named Gerard Lumley, whose vehicle is stranded in a ferocious blizzard. Initially contemptuous of Lumley for driving in such weather, both are horrified upon realizing that his vehicle is stranded in Jerusalem's Lot. They reluctantly drive out in an International Scout with Lumley to try to save his family, fearing the worst. The three locate Lumley's Mercedes, still running and h ...

They are best known for their 1992 hit single " Jump Around", which reached number 3 in their native United States of America, number 6 in Ireland and number 8 in the United Kingdom. DJ Lethal would later join and find commercial success with the rap rock band Limp Bizkit. House of Pain reunited briefly in 2010 for a world tour. The group's name is a reference to the H.G. Wells novel '' The Island of Dr Moreau'', a reference carried further by the naming of their 2011 tour ''He Who Breaks the Law''; however, they initially became aware of the phrase via the Oingo Boingo song " No Spill Blood", of which they were fans. The series was nominated for 12 Emmy Awards and won five. The first-season episode "The Amazing Falsworth" earned writer Mick Garris an Edgar Award for Best Episode in a TV Series. The 1987 science fiction film '' Batteries Not Included'' was originally intended as a story for ''Amazing Stories'', but Spielberg liked the idea so much that he decided to make it a theatrical release. The series title licensed the name of ''Amazing Stories'', the first dedicated science fiction magazine created by Hugo Gernsback in April 1926. The title sequence was made by computer-generated imagery (CGI) firm Robert Abel and Associates. On March 6, 2020, a revival ...
