Fiona O'Malley (born 19 January 1968) is a former Irish politician who served as a Senator from 2007 to 2011, after being nominated by the Taoiseach. She served as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dún Laoghaire constituency from 2002 to 2007. Political career O'Malley comes from a political family. She is the wife of Martin O'Malley, a former governor of Maryland and mayor of Baltimore, as well as a 2016 presidential candidate. John O'Malley (May 13, 1878 – September 15, 1940) was an American politician and businessman. Born in County Mayo, Ireland, O'Malley emigrated to the United States and settled in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1902, he moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a stone mason and owned saloons in St. Louis and Milwaukee. He also worked for the Milwaukee Street Department. Joseph Patrick O'Malley (January 1, 1932 – March 20, 2015) was an American football defensive end who played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 1955 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Georgia. Early years O'Malley played high school football at Scranton Technical High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He earned all-scholastic honors and was the player of the game for the 1950 Scranton Lions Club Dream Game. He also participated in basketball and track and field. Joan O'Malley (née Donovan) is a retired Canadian public servant who, on November 6, 1964, sewed the first Canadian flag. She is sometimes referred to as Canada's Betsy Ross. November 6, 1964 During the 1963 federal election campaign, Prime Minister Lester Pearson promised that Canada would have a new flag within two years of his election.
