David Nordyke
David H. Nordyke (February 4, 1952 – December 29, 2003) was an American educator who co-wrote the Charter School Bill for the U.S. state of Ohio. Background Born in Dayton, Ohio, Nordyke earned a degree from the University of Dayton in English and secondary education. He took graduate courses at Xavier University in Cincinnati, and he also worked toward a doctoral degree at Miami University in Ohio. After teaching in public and parochial schools, Nordyke founded Harmony Community School in 1998. He died in the school in 2003 over winter break, but the school still worked to achieve Nordyke's vision and mission. Lou Nordyke
Louis Ellis Nordyke (August 7, 1876 – September 27, 1945) was an American Major League Baseball first baseman who played for the St. Louis Browns for one season, from April 18 to June 27, 1906. He was sold to the Browns by the Tacoma Tigers of the Pacific Coast League, after having previously been on their Champion 1904–1905 team. He was a popular player with both fans and his fellow players in 1903, when he played for the Spokane Indians, also of the PCL. Nordyke later rejoined the team in 1909, and won the league's batting championship. He also played for the 1907 St. Paul Saints. In total, Nordyke played professional baseball from 1901 to 1914. After his baseball career, he spent time as a security guard at a bank. Nordyke died at the age of 69, of a heart attack in Los Angeles. Micajah Thomas Nordyke
Micajah Thomas Nordyke (March 9, 1847 – May 15, 1919) was a noted painter and member of the Richmond Group. Nordyke was a student of Frank Duveneck at the Cincinnati Academy of Art and a student at Earlham College, 1865–66. He also served as Richmond City Clerk. Micajah Thomas Nordyke founded the Rambler’s Sketch Club (c.1881) along with three other painters, brothers Albert Clinton Conner (1848–1929) and Charles Fremont Conner (1857–1905), and Frank J. Girardin (1856–1945). John Elwood Bundy (1853–1933) soon joined their group.
