Norfolk And Western Railway
The Norfolk and Western Railway , commonly called the N&W, was a US class I railroad, formed by more than 200 railroad mergers between 1838 and 1982. It was headquartered in Roanoke, Virginia, for most of its existence. Its motto was "Precision Transportation"; it had a variety of nicknames, including "King Coal" and "British Railway of America". In 1986, N&W merged with Southern Railway to form today’s Norfolk Southern Railway. The N&W was famous for manufacturing its own steam locomotives, which were built at the Roanoke Shops, as well as its own hopper cars. State Route 60 (SR 60) is a north–south state highway that runs the entire length of the U.S. state of Ohio, from the Williamstown Bridge over the Ohio River in Marietta to U.S. Route 6 (US 6) near Lake Erie in Vermilion. It is the seventh longest state route in Ohio. Heading south from Vermilion, SR 60 traverses rural North Central Ohio while connecting Vermilion, New London, Ashland, and Loudonville.
