The Football Association of Brunei Darussalam ( ms, Persatuan Bolasepak Brunei Darussalam; abbrev: FABD) is the governing body of football in Brunei, controlling the Brunei national football team. History FABD is the successor organisation of the Brunei Football Association (BAFA) that was banned by FIFA and AFC in 2009 for government interference. At its meeting on May 30, 2011, the Fifa Executive Committee, presided over by president Joseph S. Blatter, resolved to remove the suspensions against the football associations of Bosnia-Herzegovina (FFBH) and Brunei Darussalam. In July 2021, it rebranded into its current name, omitting the word "National". The association was also previously known as the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD). Asian Football Confederation
The Asian Football Confederation is the governing body of association football, beach soccer, and futsal in some countries/territories in Asia and Oceania. It has 47 member countries most of which are located in Asia. Australia, formerly in OFC, joined AFC in 2006. Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, both territories of the United States, are also AFC members that are geographically in Oceania. The Asian Ladies Football Confederation (ALFC) was the section of AFC who managed women's association football in Asia. The COVID-19 pandemic in Brunei is part of the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 () caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (). The virus spread to Brunei on 9 March 2020, when its first case was confirmed in Tutong. Many early cases were linked to Jamek Mosque Sri Petaling in Kuala Lumpur, which held a large Tablighi Jamaat ijtema event at the end of February 2020. Brunei Super League
The Brunei Super League (''Liga Super Brunei'' in Malay) is a Bruneian professional league for association football. It is at the top flight of the Bruneian football league system and it is managed by the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD). The clubs participating in this top flight league need to pass a set of requirements and verification process, particularly related to professionalism and infrastructure feasibility. The championship winner will receive B$14,000 ($10,000 USD) as prize money, as well as being eligible for the AFC Cup as Brunei's representative, provided that the club conforms to AFC's Club Licence criteria. The Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy for ASEAN Youth Football Championship, is the football tournament for youth players in Southeast Asia. It was opened to football players from ASEAN member states under the age of 21 years to participate in this. Mario Rivera (football Manager)
Mario Rivera Campesino (born 12 August 1977) is a Spanish professional football manager who is currently the head coach of the Brunei national football team. Career Rivera started his managerial career with Leganés youth team in 2007. He then proceeded manage different local clubs, worked as a scout and analyst for Celtic and Atlético Madrid C. In 2018, he was appointed as the head coach of Brunei U21 team. In 2018 he joined East Bengal as an assistant coach and video analyst, along with head coach Alejandro Menéndez. Paul Munster
Paul Munster (born 9 February 1982) is a Northern Irish former professional footballer who played as a striker. He is currently the technical director of the Brunei national football team. Playing career Munster began his career at the youth level with Cliftonville in 2001. He traveled to Kitchener, Ontario in order to conduct a six-week sport and school exchange to coach. While conducting lessons he severely torn his knee ligament. As a result, his club released him from his contract effectively sidelining his career. Sufri Bolkiah ibni Omar Ali Saifuddien III (born 31 July 1951) is a member of the royal family of Brunei. He is the third son of Omar Ali Saifuddien III, the 28th Sultan of Brunei, and Raja Isteri (Queen) Pengiran Anak Damit. Tabuan Muda (English:''Young Wasps'') was a Bruneian football team that played in the Bruneian football league system, under the management of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam.
