National Civilian Community Corps
The National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC), or AmeriCorps NCCC, was an AmeriCorps program founded in 1993 that engages young adults, aged 18 to 26, in team-based, residential community service projects across the United States. Each year, approximately 2,200 individuals representing all colors, creeds, states, and economic statuses serve in one of four regions covering all 50 U.S. state, states and five U.S. territories, territories. The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is "to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service." AmeriCorps VISTA is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty. President John F. Kennedy originated the idea for VISTA, which was founded as Volunteers in Service to America in 1965, and incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs in 1993. The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) is any of a series of United States federal laws specifying the annual budget and expenditures of the U.S. Department of Defense.
