NRG Esports is an American esports organization based in Los Angeles, California. It has rosters in '' Apex Legends'', '' Clash Royale'', ''Dragon Ball FighterZ'', '' Fortnite'', ''Gears of War'', ''Hearthstone'', ''Overwatch'', '' Rocket League'', '' Valorant'', speedrunning and a number of streamers on the internet platform Twitch. History The team was founded by Sacramento Kings co-owners Mark Mastrov and Andy Miller in November 2015. In March 2016 NRG announced that Alex Rodriguez, Shaquille O'Neal and Jimmy Rollins were joining as investors. On April 20, 2018, Tiesto was announced as an investor. In August 2017, the Canadian esports company Northern Gaming was acquired by NRG. Northern Gaming's co-owners were rolled into NRG, making twitch streamer Sodapoppin a named advisor and co-owner. Andrew "Andy" D. Miller (born December 14, 1968) is an American businessman and technology/sports entrepreneur. He was formerly the Vice President for Mobile Advertising at Apple Inc. As of 2015, Miller is a co-owner of the Sacramento Kings of the National Basketball Association (NBA), chairman and co-owner of NRG Esports, co-owner of the Modesto Nuts, high Single A minor league baseball affiliate of the Seattle Mariners of MLB, co-founder of Remix Media, Inc. and its app Spun, as well as co-founder of start-up vehicle StartingFive. The Sacramento Kings are an American professional basketball team based in Sacramento, California. The Overwatch League (OWL) is a professional esports league for the video game ''Overwatch'', produced by its developer, Blizzard Entertainment. The Overwatch League follows the model of other traditional North American professional sporting leagues by using a set of permanent, city-based teams backed by separate ownership groups. James Thomas Anthony Valvano (March 10, 1946 – April 28, 1993), nicknamed Jimmy V, was an American college basketball player, coach, and broadcaster. Valvano had a successful coaching career with multiple schools, most notably at North Carolina State University. While the head coach at NC State, his team won the 1983 NCAA Division I men's basketball title against improbable odds. Valvano is most remembered for his ecstatic celebration after winning the national championship game against the heavily-favored Houston Cougars.
