Nuts TV was a British television channel related to ''Nuts (magazine), Nuts'' magazine. Nuts TV began broadcasting on Freeview (UK), Freeview channel 42 on 12 September 2007 nightly from 9pm to 1am, and launched on Sky Digital (UK & Ireland), Sky Digital on 21 January 2008 until it’s closure on 14 January 2009. A 1-hour timeshift channel, Nuts TV +1 launched on 20 October 2008. Nuts TV was launched by the magazine's owner IPC Media and Turner Broadcasting, which are both parts of the Time Warner media empire. The service was produced by the ETV media group, with advertising sales handled by Turner. On 28 October 2008, Turner Broadcasting announced that Nuts TV was to be taken off Freeview (UK), Freeview in early 2009 and replaced with CNN International, but will carry on as an internet channel. Nut (climbing)
In rock climbing, a nut (or ''chock'' or ''chockstone'' or wire for the smallest versions) is a metal wedge threaded on a wire that climbers use for protection by wedging it into a crack in the rock. Quickdraws are clipped to the nut wire by the ascending climber and the rope threads through the quickdraw. Nuts come in a variety of sizes and styles, and several different brands are made by competing manufacturers. Most nuts are made of aluminum. Larger nuts may be threaded on Dyneema cord instead of wire, but this has become unusual. The very smallest nuts are known as ''micronuts'' and may be made of brass or other metal, and typically have their wires soldered into them, instead of looped through drilled holes. ''Nuts'' marketing campaign at its launch in 2004 used the slogan "When you really need something funny". A nut is a fruit consisting of a hard or tough nutshell protecting a kernel which is usually edible. A nut, on a stringed musical instrument, is a small piece of hard material that supports the strings at the end closest to the headstock or scroll. The nut marks one end of the vibrating length of each open string, sets the spacing of the strings across the neck, and usually holds the strings at the proper height from the fingerboard. Along with the bridge, the nut defines the scale lengths (vibrating length) of the open strings. A ball screw (or ballscrew) is a mechanical linear actuator that translates rotational motion to linear motion with little friction. A threaded shaft provides a helical raceway for ball bearings which act as a precision screw.
