Nick Ross
Nicholas David Ross (born 7 August 1947) is an English radio and television presenter. During the 1980s and 1990s he was one of the most ubiquitous of British broadcasters but is best known for hosting the BBC Television programme ''Crimewatch'', which he left in 2007 after 23 years. He has subsequently filmed a series for BBC One called ''The Truth About Crime'' and has made documentaries for BBC Radio 4. He is chairman, president, trustee or patron of a number of charities including the National Fire Chiefs Council, and is President of the British Security Industry Association and HealthSense. Early life He was brought up in Surrey. His German Jewish father, Hans Rosenbluth, fled Germany in 1933 soon after the Nazi Party, Nazis came to power. In 1940 Rosenbluth was interned as an ‘enemy alien‘ and sent from England to Australia on HMT Dunera, HMT ''Dunera''. Nick Ross (footballer, Born 1862)
Nicholas John Ross (6 December 1862 – 7 August 1894) was a Scottish footballer who played as a defender or striker. He was a Preston North End player upon his death, playing as full back. Career Ross played for, and captained, Heart of Midlothian in the early stages of his football career before being persuaded to join Preston North End by club secretary William Sudell who also provided him with a job as a slater. Preston North End converted Ross from a centre-forward to a left-back. Ross was made captain of Preston and over the next few years earned a reputation as one of the best defenders in English football. He featured in the 1886–87 FA Cup Semi-Final where Preston were beaten 2–1 by West Bromwich Albion. Nicholas Ross (born 11 November 1991) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder for Sacramento Republic in the USL Championship. Ross has previously played for Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Dundee, Brora Rangers, El Paso Locomotive and the Scotland under-21 team. Club career Inverness CT Ross came through the youth ranks at Inverness Caledonian Thistle and ahead of the 2009–10 season, manager Terry Butcher stated Ross was among several youngsters selected for the first team squad. Nick Ross (ice Hockey)
Nick Ross (born February 10, 1989) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman who last played for Ducs d'Angers of the Ligue Magnus. He was drafted by the Phoenix Coyotes with the 30th pick of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Ross began his major junior career in the WHL with the Regina Pats in 2004–05, appearing in 10 games. After a 31-point campaign with the Pats in 2006–07, Ross was drafted 30th overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes. The next season, back in the WHL, he was traded from the Pats to the Kamloops Blazers on January 5, 2008, along with Spencer Fraipont and a fourth-round bantam draft pick, in exchange for Victor Bartley and Ryan Bender. Nicholas William Ross (born 26 July 1990) is a New Zealand field hockey player. Career Club level In the New Zealand National Hockey League, Ross plays hockey for Southern. National team Nick Ross made his debut for the Black Sticks in 2013, at the Sultan Azalan Shah Cup, in Ipoh, Malaysia. Since his debut, Ross has been a regular inclusion in the Black Sticks side. Nicholas Peter Gilbert Ross (born 2 October 1947) is a Scottish former first-class cricketer. Ross was born at Edinburgh . He was educated at Marlborough College, before going up to Selwyn College, Cambridge. While studying at Cambridge, he made his debut in first-class cricket for Cambridge University against Essex at Fenner's in 1969. He played seven further first-class matches for Cambridge, the last coming in 1970. In his eight first-class matches for Cambridge, he scored 224 runs at an average of 28.00 and a high score of 68. Mary Adelaide Eden Ross (née Phillpotts; 23 April 1896 – 4 June 1993) was an English novelist, poet and playwright. She married at the age of 55 leaving behind her father who had controlled their incestuous relationship. Life Phillpotts was born in Ealing, London and went to a local boarding school and then to Grassendale School in Southbourne, Dorset. Later she studied social care at Bedford College. As a 12-year-old girl she looked up to her slightly older Torquay neighbour Agatha Miller (later known to the world as Agatha Christie). Her father, the successful and prolific writer Eden Phillpotts, was impressed enough by Agatha's early work to help her with it, but at that point unsuccessfully.
