Münchener Freiheit (band)
Münchener Freiheit (known sometimes simply as Freiheit) is a German pop and rock band that had released nineteen studio albums by 2016, four of which have gone gold album, gold. They are named after a square in the city of Munich, meaning "Munich freedom". They are considered part of the Neue Deutsche Welle musical movement. They are best known in the English-speaking world for their single "Keeping the Dream Alive". This song became a #14 hit single in the UK Singles Chart when released in December 1988, making Münchener Freiheit a one-hit wonder there. ''Fantasy'' is a 1988 album by German pop group Münchener Freiheit, known simply as Freiheit for this and their other English-language releases. It was the band's second album to be recorded in English, following 1987's ''Romancing in the Dark'', and contains English versions of all of the tracks from their fifth studio album, '' Fantasie'', also released in 1988. The album contains the international hit single, " Keeping the Dream Alive", which gave the band their only hit in the United Kingdom, peaking at number 14 in the UK Singles Chart. The song also gave them moderate exposure in the United States after being featured in the 1989 film '' Say Anything...''. The Irish Singles Chart is the Republic of Ireland's music industry standard singles popularity chart issued weekly by the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and compiled on their behalf by the Official Charts Company. Chart rankings are based on sales, which are compiled through over-the-counter retail data captured electronically each day from retailers' EPOS systems. All major record shops, digital retailers and streaming services contribute to the chart, accounting for over 95% of the market. A new chart is compiled and released to the public by the Irish Recorded Music Association on Friday at noon. Ö3 Austria Top 40 is the official Austrian singles chart, as well as the radio show which presents it, aired on Tuesdays on Hitradio Ö3. Klaus Otto Wilhelm Voormann (born 29 April 1938) is a German graphic artist, artist, musician, and record producer. Voormann was the bassist for Manfred Mann from 1966 to 1969, and performed as a session musician on a host of recordings, including "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon, Lou Reed's ''Transformer (Lou Reed album), Transformer'' album, and on many recordings of the former members of the Beatles. As a producer, Voormann worked with the band Trio (band), Trio on their worldwide hit "Da Da Da".
