Munich–Augsburg Railway
The Munich–Augsburg line connects Munich and Augsburg in the German state of Bavaria. It was built by the Munich-Augsburg Railway Company and opened in 1840. It was nationalised in 1846 and extended to Ulm in 1854. The line between Augsburg and Munich is a major traffic axis and part of the Magistrale for Europe from Budapest through Vienna to Paris. History The line was built by the Munich-Augsburg Railway Company (German: ''München-Augsburg Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'') and opened in 1839 and 1840. The Munich-Augsburg Railway Company was nationalised on 1 June 1846 and taken over by the Royal Bavarian State Railways (''Königlich Bayerische Staats-Eisenbahnen''). The line became part of Bavarian Maximilian’s Railway (''Bayerische Maximiliansbahn'') and was extended to Ulm on 1 May 1854. DB Netz
DB Netz AG is a major subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn that owns and operates a majority of the German railway system (2019: 33,291 km). It is one of the largest railway infrastructure manager by length and transport volume of its network. The company was established in the course of the second stage of the German rail reform as a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG. DB Netz is headquartered in Frankfurt and it has seven regional divisions ("Regionalbereiche", RB) and a central division. The locations of its regional headquarters are Berlin (RB east), Frankfurt (RB central), Duisburg (RB west), Hanover (RB north), Karlsruhe (RB southwest), Leipzig (RB southeast) and Munich (RB south). Paar
The Paar is a river of Bavaria, Germany, a right tributary of the Danube. For several tens of kilometers it flows parallel to the Lech, at only a few km distance. Near Augsburg, the Paar leaves the Lech valley and turns north-east towards Ingolstadt. It flows into the Danube near Vohburg. Towns and municipalities along the Paar include Egling, Mering, Aichach, Schrobenhausen and Manching. Munich North Ring
Munich North Ring (german: Münchner Nordring), section of which are only used by freight trains, is a railway bypass on the northern edge of the Bavarian state capital of Munich. The line’s importance for freight also partly arises from its access to the Munich North marshalling yard (''Rangierbahnhof München Nord''). Route The North Ring begins at Olching station and initially runs north from Groebenzell to the Munich district of Allach. There are links with the Nuremberg–Ingolstadt–Munich high-speed line before the line passes Munich North marshalling yard. Near the marshalling yard's exit tracks there is a connecting curve to Moosach on the line to Laim. Similarly, there is a connection to the Munich–Regensburg railway running to the north. To the east of the marshalling yard, the line runs along the northern edge of the Olympic Village.
