Rolf Stenersen
Rolf Kristian Eckersberg Stenersen (13 February 1899 – 15 October 1978) was a Norwegian businessman, non-fiction writer, essayist, novelist, playwright and biographer. He was also a track and field athlete and art collector. Background Stenersen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway as the son of bookseller Johan Martin Stenersen (1866–1948) and Martha Kathrine Eckersberg (1869–1930). He graduated from Kristiania Commerce School (now Oslo Commerce School) in 1918, and studied at Queen's College, Oxford, from 1922 to 1924. He was a Norwegian champion in 200 metres in 1919 and 1920, and in 4 x 100 metres relay in 1920. He participated at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, where he competed in 100 metres, 200 metres and 4 x 100 metres relay. Career He was active on the stock market already as a teenager. Gudmund Stenersen
Gudmund Stenersen (18 August 1863 – 17 August 1934) was a Norway, Norwegian painter and illustrator. Biography He was born in Ringsaker as a son of veterinarian Stener Johannes Stenersen (veteriarian), Stener Johannes Stenersen (1835–1904) and Helga Hermana Heltberg (1842–1921). He was a grandnephew of theologian Stener Johannes Stenersen (theologian), Stener Johannes Stenersen, Sr. (1789–1835). He took his examen artium in Hamar in 1883, and then took education and work as a dentist while painting on his spare time. His first work to be accepted at the Høstutstillingen, Autumn Exhibit was ''I Baadstøe'' in 1885. After working as a dentist in Tønsberg from 1886 to 1889, he studied in Paris under Léon Bonnat and Fernand Cormon from 1889 to 1892. Time from 1893 to 1894 was spent in Italy. Stenersen Museum
The Stenersen Museum ( no, Stenersenmuseet) is a Museum of Fine Arts located in Oslo, Norway. Stenersen Museum opened in 1994. It principally features exhibitions of contemporary art. The museum art exhibited originated with three private art collections which were donated to the city. In 1933, the family of Amaldus Nielsen donated an art collection to the City of Oslo. In 1936, the prominent financier and author Rolf E. Stenersen donated his collection of Norwegian art to the Municipality of Aker, which was later merged with the City of Oslo. In 1972, the Ravensberg collection was donated to the City of Oslo by the widow of artist Ludvig O. Ravensberg (1871–1958). Stener Johannes Stenersen
Stener Johannes Stenersen (15 July 1835 – 7 July 1904) was a Norwegian veterinarian. Stenersen was born in Elverum in Hedmark, Norway. He was a son of priest Gabriel Hofgaard Stenersen and Anne Birgitte Irgens. He was a nephew of theologian Stener Johannes Stenersen (1789-1835). After graduating from Christiania Cathedral School, he attended the Royal Veterinary College of Copenhagen from 1853 to 1857. He then became county veterinarian in Hedmark, working in Østerdalen from 1857 to 1860 and Hedmarken from 1860 to 1863. In July 1862 in Ringsaker he married Helga Hermana Heltberg (1842–1921). They had the son Gudmund Stenersen, a painter. In May 1883 he was hired as state agronomist in Western Norway, with special responsibility for stockbreeding. He was stationed in Voss for one year, then in Stavanger. He became a national expert on breeding, especially horse breeding. Sverre Stenersen
Sverre Stenersen (18 June 1926 – 17 December 2005) was a Norwegian Nordic combined skier who dominated the event throughout the 1950s. His biggest triumphs were winning individual gold medals at the 1954 World Championships and 1956 Olympics. He also won a bronze at the 1952 Olympics and a silver at the 1958 World Championships. Stenersen won the Nordic combined event at the national championships in 1954–58 and at the Holmenkollen ski festival in 1955, 1956 and 1959. In 1955 he received the Holmenkollen medal, shared with King Haakon VII, Hallgeir Brenden, and Veikko Hakulinen. Stenersen was born on a small farm in Målselv. Eivind Stenersen Engelstad (21 June 1900 – 16 February 1969) was a Norway, Norwegian archaeologist and art historian. Personal life Engelstad was born in Oslo, Kristiania as the son of jurist Bjarne Engelstad (1872–1939) and grandson of engineer Jess Julius Engelstad (1822–1896). He was married to Danish born art historian Helen Engelstad, Helen Wright. Career Eivind Stenersen Engelstad took the dr.philos. degree in 1934 on the thesis ''Østnorske ristninger og malinger av den arktiske gruppe''.
