Mubi (town)
Mubi is a town in Northern Senatorial District of Adamawa State, northeast Nigeria. It is subdivided into two. Mubi north and Mubi south Demographics The major tribes of the town are Fali, Gude, Kamwe, Margi and Mundang (Godo-godo). Education Mubi has three higher institutions of learning: Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, College of Health Technology (Mubi Campus), and Adamawa State University, Mubi. Boko Haram takeover Some media outlets said that the city was renamed to ''Madinatul Islam'', meaning ''city of Islam'' by jihadist group Boko Haram in October 2014 when they captured the town under their control. In November 2014, the Nigerian Army took back control of Mubi from Boko Haram. Adamawa State governor Bala James Ngilari said government forces had recaptured the town from Boko Haram. Alex Badeh
Alex Sabundu Badeh (7 November 1957 – 18 December 2018) was an officer of the Nigerian Air Force who served as the 18th Chief of Air Staff and the 15th Chief of Defence Staff of Nigeria. He died from gunshot injuries sustained after his vehicle was attacked by unknown gunmen along Abuja-Keffi road on Tuesday, 18 December 2018. Early life and education Badeh was born in Vimtim, a little town in the Mubi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, North East Nigeria into a family of peasant farmers. He attended Vimtim Primary School, Vimtim and went on to obtain his school certificate from Villanova Secondary School in 1976 before proceeding to the Nigerian Defence Academy. Iya Abubakar
Iya Abubakar (born 14 December, 1934) is a Nigerian politician and mathematician who held multiple cabinet level appointments (Minister of Defence and Minister of Internal Affairs) during the Nigerian Second Republic, and Senator for Adamawa North from May 1999 to May 2007. Birth and academic career Abubakar was born on 14 December, 1934. He was educated at Barewa College, University College Ibadan (later to become the University of Ibadan) and earned a Ph.D at the University of Cambridge. He worked as a visiting professor at the University of Michigan in 1965–66, before being appointed as Professor of Mathematics at Ahmadu Bello University at the age of 28, in 1967. He held this position until 1975, as well as a visiting professorship at the City University of New York from 1971 to 1972. 2018 Mubi Suicide Bombings
On 1 May 2018, two suicide bombers detonated their explosives at a mosque and a market in the town of Mubi (town), Mubi in the States of Nigeria, state of Adamawa State, Adamawa in eastern Nigeria, killing at least 86 people and injuring 58 others. The blasts were carried out by young boys and happened shortly after 1:00 pm (12:00 GMT). No group claimed responsibility for the attack, but the blame was attributed to the Boko Haram Islamist extremist group. Mosque
A mosque (; from ar, مَسْجِد, masjid, ; literally "place of ritual prostration"), also called masjid, is a place of prayer for Muslims. 2017 Mubi Bombing
On 21 November 2017, a suicide bombing occurred in Mubi, Adamawa State, Nigeria. A teenager detonated the explosives in a mosque as worshippers arrived for fajr prayer in the large town in eastern Nigeria, killing 50 people. No group claimed responsibility. The large Islamist group Boko Haram began an insurgency in 2009. They have committed most of the major attacks that have occurred in Nigeria since then.
