Mark Morris High School
Mark Morris High School is a public high school in Longview, Washington, for grades nine through twelve. In 2013, it had an enrollment of 976 students. A part of Longview Public Schools, the school was built in 1957 and is named for Samuel Mark Morris, the third president of the Long-Bell Lumber Company. The school has a partially open campus. Students are allowed to leave campus during lunch if they wish. Mark Morris was recognized as one of thirteen high schools identified as a high performing school in the area of math growth during the 2013 Washington Achievement Awards at OSPI in Olympia. OSPI assesses data from state testing over the past three years and it made significant growth during that period. Morris High School (Bronx)
Morris High School, in New York City, was a high school in the Melrose section of the Bronx borough's South Bronx area. The direct predecessor of Morris was built in 1897 and established as the Mixed High School, situated in a small brick building on 157th Street and 3rd Avenue, about six blocks south of where the new building would be built. It was the first high school built in the Bronx and was the first high school in the New York City public school system to enroll both male and female students. Originally named Peter Cooper High School, the name was changed to Morris High School to commemorate a famous Bronx landowner, Gouverneur Morris, one of the signers of the United States Constitution and credited as author of its Preamble. Morris, Oklahoma
Morris is a city in Okmulgee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,494 at the 2010 census, an increase of 14.3% from the figure of 1,294 recorded in 2000. History The community began as a cattle stop on the Ozark and Cherokee Central Railway (later the St. Louis and San Francisco Railway, commonly known as the "Frisco"), which ran between Muskogee and Okmulgee. The post office was established here on January 4, 1904. The townsite was platted in 1904 by L. R. Kershaw, who was an attorney and an immigration agent for the Frisco. He named the town after H. E. Morris, a Frisco executive. Many of the street names in Morris are named after towns that were familiar to Kershaw from his home state of Illinois. Kershaw was also the founder of two of the earliest banks in Morris, Indian Territory: The Farmer's State Bank of Morris in 1905 and the First National Bank of Morris in 1907. Morris Community High School, or MCHS, is a public four-year high school located in the Chicago suburb of Morris, Illinois, a city 35 miles southwest of Chicago, Illinois, in the United States. It is the school of Morris Community High School District 101. History Morris High School can trace its history back to 1872 when classes were held on the second floor of the old Center School building. The high school then moved to its own site on Franklin Street in 1898, with two wings added in 1914. A $1.2 million referendum in 1949 was successfully passed, and shortly thereafter the current building was built. It was added onto again in 1960.
