Moncton East (french: Moncton-Est) is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was first contested in the 2014 general election, having been created in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries. The district includes the northeasternmost parts of the city of Moncton, as well as neighbouring suburban communities northeast of Moncton, stretching into the edge of Kent County. New Brunswick Electoral Redistribution, 2013
The 2013 New Brunswick electoral redistribution was undertaken through the process set out in the ''Electoral Boundaries and Representation Act'' of New Brunswick, Canada. The legislation establishes a statutory requirement for redistribution of electoral districts after every second New Brunswick general election. A commission was struck to draw 49 electoral districts, a decrease from 55 districts, which will first be used in the 2014 provincial election. The 49 boundaries will have to be within the range of 95% to 105% of the 1/49th of the number of registered voters in the province except in "extraordinary circumstances". Under the legislation, the commission will be chaired by one anglophone and one francophone and consist of 3 to 5 other commissioners, all of whom must be New Brunswick residents. Moncton Centre is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was contested in the 2014 general election, having been created in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries. The district includes the geographic centre of Moncton, but excludes the downtown which falls in Moncton South. Monique LeBlanc
Monique Anne LeBlanc is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2014 provincial election. She represented the electoral district of Moncton East as a member of the Liberal Party. LeBlanc was named to the Select Committee on Cannabis, pursuant to Motion 31 of the 3rd session of the 58th New Brunswick Legislature. She was re-elected in the 2018 election. Daniel Allain is a Canadian politician from New Brunswick. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick at the 2020 general election in the riding of Moncton East. He is currently Minister of Local Government and Local Governance Reform. Political career In his early political career, Allain served as Premier Bernard Lord's constituency assistant in Moncton East from 2000 to 2003. Allain stood in the 2008 Canadian federal election in Moncton—Riverview—Dieppe. In 2013, during the mandate of Premier David Alward, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Management and Administration in the Office of the Premier of New Brunswick, and, in 2010, he was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of NB Liquor. Moncton Northwest (french: Moncton-Nord-Ouest) is a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, Canada. It was first be contested in the 1995 general election, having been created in the 1994 redistribution of electoral boundaries with the name Moncton Crescent. The district was first created in 1995 out of Petitcodiac, then the most populous electoral district in the province. It took its name from the fact that its shape was a crescent over the north of the city of Moncton. It lost much of its easternmost territory in the 2006 redistribution and lost much of its crescent shape. Chris Collins (Canadian Politician)
Chris Collins (born June 23, 1962) is a former Canadian politician from Moncton, New Brunswick. He served as MLA for the riding of Moncton Centre from 2014 until 2018, having previously served part of one term as a city councillor for Moncton City Council. On October 24, 2014 Collins was elected Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick succeeding Dale Graham. Collins was defeated in the 2018 provincial election. Westmorland County, New Brunswick
Westmorland County (2016 population: 149,623) is a county in New Brunswick, a province of Canada. It is in the south-eastern part of the province. It contains the fast-growing commercial centre of Moncton and its northern and eastern suburbs. Also located in the county are the university town of Sackville and the tourist destination of Shediac. Westmorland County is centrally located in the Maritimes and is New Brunswick's most populous county.
