Missouri's 29th Senate District
Missouri's 29th Senatorial District is one of 34 districts in the Missouri Senate. The district is based in Southwest Missouri and includes all of the counties of Barry, Lawrence, McDonald, and Christian. The district is currently represented by Republican Mike Moon of Ash Grove. District Profile Major cities in the district include the popular tourist destination of Branson as well as Monett, Aurora, and Hollister. In addition to Branson, the district is home to College of the Ozarks. The district, anchored in the longtime GOP bastion of Southwest Missouri, is solidly Republican. Although it is a relatively diverse rural district, the GOP still dominates every level of government in the district. Mike Moon (politician)
Mike Moon (born December 31, 1958) is an American politician serving as a member of the Missouri Senate, who previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives. He is a member of the Republican Party. Moon is against abortion and has introduced legislation to define a human zygote as a person. He supports children being able to marry other children with parental consent as an alternative to abortion. He opposes mandatory sex education in schools, and proposed bills banning the discussion of LGBTQ people in public schools and prohibiting doctors from providing gender affirming care to minors. Moon is against mandatory masking and regulation of businesses as a tool to mitigate COVID-19, and wants to eliminate corporate taxation. Kenny Hulshof
Kenneth C. "Kenny" Hulshof (; born May 22, 1958) is an American politician and lawyer who represented in the United States House of Representatives. He was the unsuccessful nominee of the Republican Party for Governor of Missouri in the 2008 election. Biography Hulshof was born in Sikeston, Missouri and is of Dutch, German, and Irish descent. Hulshof attended the University of Missouri and earned his J.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Law. Prior to serving in Congress, Hulshof worked in the public defender's office and as a special prosecutor for the Missouri attorney general's office. As a special prosecutor, Hulshof was detailed to capital cases. The 2008 United States presidential election in Missouri was held on November 4, 2008, and was part of the 2008 United States presidential election, which took place throughout all 50 states and D.C. Voters chose 11 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president.
