The Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth () is a department of the Albanian Government responsible for Education and Sport. The current minister is Evis Kushi. Albania ( ; sq, Shqipëri or ), or , also or . officially the Republic of Albania ( sq, Republika e Shqipërisë), is a country in Southeastern Europe. Sejfulla Malëshova
Sejfulla Malëshova (2 March 1900 – 9 June 1971) was an Albanian politician, writer and translator. He was an early member of the Communist leadership in post-World War II Albania and served as the Ministry of Culture and Propaganda. Biography Malëshova was born in Këlcyrë. He was educated in Vlorë and later studied medicine in Italy. In 1924, a 23-year-old Malëshova became Fan Noli's personal secretary. After Noli's government was overthrown, Malëshova fled to Vienna, where he joined KONARE, a revolutionary organization founded by Albanian leftists. He went to Moscow and Leningrad with a delegation of the group where he translated the '' Communist Manifesto'' into Albanian. In 1930–1932, he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, but was subsequently expelled as a Bukharinist. Myqerem Tafaj
Myqerem Tafaj is an Albanian politician and university professor. He is a member of the Democratic Party of Albania and served as Minister of Education and Sciences in the cabinet of Sali Berisha. He was also Deputy Prime Minister from 4 April 2013 to 14 September 2013. Early life and career Myqerem Tafaj was born in Bulqizë, Albania, on November 14, 1957. In the late 1970s, he moved to Tirana, where he began agriculture studies at the Agricultural University of Tirana. In 1988, Tafaj received his doctoral degree from the same university. Genc Pollo
Genc Pollo (born 7 April 1963 in Tirana) is an Albanian conservative politician. An orthodox Christian and trained historian, Pollo was co-founder and first spokesman of the Albanian Democratic Party. He is a member of the Albanian Parliament since 1996 and held various minister posts since 2005. Early life and career Pollo was born in 1963 in Tirana. Ben Blushi
Ben Blushi (born 1 January 1969) is an Albanian politician, writer and journalist. Biography Ben Blushi, born in Tirana, studied at the University of Tirana, graduating in Albanian language and literature. He was editor-in-chief of the newspaper ''Koha Jonë''. His works deal with Albanian history and contemporary Albania. In April 2008, Ben Blushi published his first novel ''Të jetosh në ishull'' (''Living on an Island''). Within a couple of months, the book had sold over 30,000 copies, a record for the Albanian market. The novel covers Albanian history under the Ottoman Empire (15th–18th centuries), with a broad and not uncontroversial treatment of the country's Islamization. Paskal Milo (born 22 February 1949) is an Albanian historian, politician, and leader of the Social Democracy Party of Albania. He has also been a member of the Albanian Parliament since 1992, and a professor of Albanian and Foreign literature. Kastriot Islami
Kastriot Selman Islami (born August 18, 1952 in Tirana, Albania) is an Albanian politician. Formerly member of the Communist Party of Albania, turned moderate Socialist. He was Chairman of the Parliament of Albania from April 17, 1991 to April 6, 1992. On April 3, 1992, when the last communist president, Ramiz Alia resigned, Islami served as acting president for three days. During the presidency of Sali Berisha (1992–1997), Islami had no important positions in the government, but from 1997 to 2005 he was an important person in the government again holding several Ministerial positions in the Socialist "NANO government" . Skënder Gjinushi (born 24 December 1949 in Vlorë, Albania) is an Albanian politician and academic. He has served in several high-ranking positions in the Albanian government, including as Speaker of Parliament and Deputy Prime Minister. Thoma Deliana (1925–2014) was an Albanian politician of the Communist Albania period, being the longest serving Minister of Education (1963-1976) in overall. Manush Myftiu
Manush Myftiu (16 January 1919 – 20 October 1997) was an Albanian politician during the country's socialist period. He served in a number of positions, most recently as the deputy prime minister. Early life Myftiu was born in Vlora to a family of Albanian Muslim landowners. In 1939 he graduated from a Classical Lycée in Rome and while in his hometown joined a communist cell. From 1940 to 1941 he studied at the Medical Faculty of the University of Turin but did not complete his studies, returning to Vlora where he was obliged to join the Albanian Fascist Youth.
